Rebuilding Front Suspension
You’re onto something there, but that’s just for the C10 flavor. RockAuto has lower control arms for both HD and non-HD in stock. It’s nice to have a custom shop nearby. Stopped in to see if they had any Eddy metering rods and they did. Continuing to dial in the carb a bit, but think I’ll finalize tuning it after the warm weather comes back. They had a late 50s Cadillac for sale there unrestored, with original patina... -

Emissions question
I think here in WA state, the collectors plate is 20 or 25 years. There is supposed to be a limit on mileage as well, and my pickup isn’t supposed to haul anything in the bed. Ha, good luck enforcing any of that. I’ve broken every one of those rules.- ChuckN

Out in the garage. Found a whole bunch of surface rust under the door frame weatherstripping. Went after it with my corner sander, and the drill with a plethora of different wire wheels, then applied some Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. I’ll eventually get her painted but this will save on ‘er for... -

Not much happening today. Just picked the kid from school in the truck, drop off at Tae Kwon Do, then a fresh tank of ethanol free on the way to the water for the sunset. Too many cars for a picture in front of the water, but a nice chilly (and dry!) evening for a cruise. -

I looked at my ‘81 because that three wire connector looked familiar- the one that goes to the oil pressure switch to activate the choke when it gets oil pressure . I did something similar with out old ‘54 3100. The frame was pretty corroded being from Michigan, rust everywhere. Drove the truck to my knee appointment after going one step leaner with the metering rods- big mistake! Way too lean. But interesting to see how much difference they make- pretty dramatic. So I came home, put the prior rods in with weaker yellow springs- safe again but hitting the 15s under... -
Odd Cooling System issue
So it’s staying cold…maybe the gauge is inaccurate? Does it get warm enough for you to feel warm coolant through the radiator hose by hand? One of the recurring themes is to not go strictly by the gauge as sensors/gauges can be not reading correctly.- ChuckN

My bezel was already hacked up for a Pioneer stereo that was nonfunctional. So I got a piece of plastic and shaped it to fit the area, and set it right in the middle. I downgraded the fuse to 5 amp and used the radio power wire circuit. -

AFR gauge is a go. Took it for a drive, way too rich at idle in gear. Leaned it out, raised the idle back up a bit, much improved. I’d gone to the silver step up springs quite a while back thinking it was running lean but I ended up putting the orange springs back in, and off idle is in the 13s... -
