    Rebuilding Front Suspension

You’re onto something there, but that’s just for the C10 flavor. RockAuto has lower control arms for both HD and non-HD in stock. I only know because I eternally have a tab open for RockAuto and I just took a gander. I’m a nerd. :anitoof: Edit- sorry, I didn’t realize this is an old thread...

What have you done to your square lately??

Been there, done that for sure.

What have you done to your square lately??

It’s nice to have a custom shop nearby. Stopped in to see if they had any Eddy metering rods and they did. Continuing to dial in the carb a bit, but think I’ll finalize tuning it after the warm weather comes back. They had a late 50s Cadillac for sale there unrestored, with original patina...

    Shoot…did I work on that?

    Emissions question

I think here in WA state, the collectors plate is 20 or 25 years. There is supposed to be a limit on mileage as well, and my pickup isn’t supposed to haul anything in the bed. Ha, good luck enforcing any of that. I’ve broken every one of those rules.

    LED Shop Lights That Last??

Years ago, I changed the two fixtures I had in the garage over to LED. It was seemingly in its infancy and I had to remove the ballast, etc. They’ve held up for about a decade without a blink. Not wanting to add a whole bunch of low hanging fixtures to improve my lighting, I picked up some...

    Emissions question

Is there a statute of limitations for that, or a year that a vehicle is exempt?

Thanks bud. To me, they have a “Hot Wheels” look to them.

What have you done to your square lately??

Would a transmission jack help with something like that if a guy was tackling the job by himself?

What have you done to your square lately??

Out in the garage. Found a whole bunch of surface rust under the door frame weatherstripping. Went after it with my corner sander, and the drill with a plethora of different wire wheels, then applied some Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. I’ll eventually get her painted but this will save on ‘er for...

What new tools have you got lately?

Got them at Lowe’s of all places- walked past them and thought they would be a great addition.

What new tools have you got lately?

Didn’t know they made these. Picked up a set of rubberized wheel nut sockets to protect the Halibrands.

What have you done to your square lately??

Not much happening today. Just picked the kid from school in the truck, drop off at Tae Kwon Do, then a fresh tank of ethanol free on the way to the water for the sunset. Too many cars for a picture in front of the water, but a nice chilly (and dry!) evening for a cruise.

    One more electrical plug identification

If you haven’t already- it’s not a bad idea to go to Fleabay and pick up a Truck Manual for your year. The wiring diagrams are handy for when you find a stray wire. The wiring diagrams are not the easiest to read (I guess I got spoiled by the Bentley manuals for VW/Audi years ago) but they’re...

    One more electrical plug identification

I looked at my ‘81 because that three wire connector looked familiar- the one that goes to the oil pressure switch to activate the choke when it gets oil pressure . The colors are the same, but mine is a rectangular connector. The other one very well could be the temp sensor wire. Do you have a...

    Have you checked your ground?

I did something similar with out old ‘54 3100. The frame was pretty corroded being from Michigan, rust everywhere. Rather than rely on the frame for ground current, I ended up using a Ron Francis ground harness with connecting studs bolted to the frame intermittently, inside the rails and out of...

What have you done to your square lately??

Drove the truck to my knee appointment after going one step leaner with the metering rods- big mistake! Way too lean. But interesting to see how much difference they make- pretty dramatic. So I came home, put the prior rods in with weaker yellow springs- safe again but hitting the 15s under...

    Odd Cooling System issue

So it’s staying cold…maybe the gauge is inaccurate? Does it get warm enough for you to feel warm coolant through the radiator hose by hand? One of the recurring themes is to not go strictly by the gauge as sensors/gauges can be not reading correctly.

What have you done to your square lately??

My bezel was already hacked up for a Pioneer stereo that was nonfunctional. So I got a piece of plastic and shaped it to fit the area, and set it right in the middle. I downgraded the fuse to 5 amp and used the radio power wire circuit.

    489ci tow build...

@Z28 Guy I used this online form and got a detailed response from Comp Cams. You fill out all the information, what you’re going to do with the vehicle, etc, and they pick one out for you (from their catalog of course). https://www.compcams.com/cam-recommendation-form/ I’ve also heard good...

Fuel gauge to tachometer, clock to fuel gauge

You’re likely onto something there- I’m a little rusty since I did mine probably a couple years ago.

Fuel gauge to tachometer, clock to fuel gauge

Hey Alex, when I did that conversion I used the LMC tach kit. I could be wrong, and I don’t know if Summit includes any provisions for just swapping in a tachometer, but I think it generally requires a new printed circuit, and also the green plastic backing plate that has a space for the...

What have you done to your square lately??

AFR gauge is a go. Took it for a drive, way too rich at idle in gear. Leaned it out, raised the idle back up a bit, much improved. I’d gone to the silver step up springs quite a while back thinking it was running lean but I ended up putting the orange springs back in, and off idle is in the 13s...

What have you done to your square lately??

Hope you get it sorted soon! It’s hard to sleep when our trucks aren’t running right. Seriously. Or at least I don’t sleep well. I’m looking forward to having an AFR gauge so I can dial in the carb. For all the “Meh” that the Edelbrock AVS gets, it works really well. Starts easy, mild mannered...
