    Inline 6 devac

Amazing how this engine ran perfectly, getting 15-18 MPG, Nice idle, accelerated properly.. with all these vacuum leaks!! The last of the stove bolt engines.. First installed in 1927

    Inline 6 devac

OK, I have now started the process of tear down. I knew I had to replace some vacuum hoses but also found my carburetor bolts were loose. Found one of the four air valves was loose where it went into the head. I'm going to remove alot of this stuff (*&^(), rebuild the carb, Check all valves and...

    Inline 6 devac

If you were asking me, I use Penn grade high zinc oil 10W40 with MOA additive. The tap is very clearly a mechanical bang.. Once each rotation. Something is clearly amiss. I have slow mo video that very clearly lets you hear the tap as a mechanical issue. I'm hoping for a bad pushrod or lifter issue.

    Inline 6 devac

I am working on the same engine/project. Soon. Trying to get a few dump loads in before taking it apart. I was looking at a new head (from a 70 Nova, which I now have) and separate intake and exhaust, but this required a catalyst replacement with the new exhaust, or perhaps EFI to feed the cat...

What have you done to your square lately??

Put a new fuel pump in, as I had a carburetor leak down issue (I thought it might be valves in pump leaking, but also suspect carb boiling its gas) Also my trailer wiring was meat-headed somewhere along the line, so I ripped out twisted wires and tape and fixed factory harness with crimp&heat...

What have you done to your square lately??

don't do it. With the 6 cylinder engine, small tires really help acceleration and with mine, the 3.08 gears work as intended. The bigger tires it had on it were very heavy and the truck slowed significantly .

What new tools have you got lately?

A flywheel holder. Not sure how much I want to use it.. And the factory manual. Everyone should have these. I buy em all on ebay for about $30.

What have you done to your square lately??

Fix what is broke. It looks really nice as is. Adding foreign parts is never the way forward if you don't need to.

    Wider Stance Without Changing Wheels

    Wiper washer upgrade and repairs

So, I fixed my wipers and washers, twice! I now have two speeds (the switch was sticky and did not allow the second speed). Fixed that. And the washers would not stop running till the wipers were turned off. I tightened the spring on the washer rotating drum, seen right below the round plastic...

What have you done to your square lately??

I got rambunctious. I'm presently "On leave" from my classic repair shop waiting for surgery and kinda going buggy wandering around the house. So I brought Ralph in for motor mounts, that I have had sitting on the shelf since the clutch job. My OTC stinger engine support, that sits on both...

    LMC Parts

Nothing is made in America any more. Lmc shipping is pricey for small orders. Napa is the same stuff too, with no shipping if you get at the store. Avoid cardone brake parts.

    Wiper washer upgrade and repairs

I'm about to replace the single speed wiper motor/washer pump due to pump problems. Now the washers run whenever the wipers are on. I'm thinking I'm going to replace the motor, and maybe the switch too to upgrade to dual speed wipers. Can I just replace the switch in the dash, and the motor pump...

    Old truck Patina

This 88 Suburban (big Red) was my truck back in the early 2000's I bought it in perfect garage kept condition from its original owner. I dragged that (painted) Airstream across America behind it. It had no patina when I bought it. But, after hailstorms in Ohio, and the third owner who had its...

    Old truck Patina

In my humble opinion, with old trucks especially, its more important they run than look new. Mine runs and drives perfectly. Well, for an old truck..
