    Old truck Patina

Just as an idea, with our trucks being classics. Some are perfect, and others are not. For the "Nots", how about some examples of our trucks "Patina". Not necessarily rat rod made up patina (clear coat, oil jobs, etc.) but signs of life. I offer a few examples of my truck, Ralph. My favorite is...

Opinions please on possible use for zinc oil additive

Don't use an additive. Use High zinc oil in any flat tappet engine, so that should apply to all of our squares. I use Penn grade brand. Its black and white people.

    Bye Bye Optima

I have the second Optima in my wife's honda. The first lasted 10 years. She wanted me to put the same battery in, and I did, but, I have my concerns it won't last. Will report failure when it does.

Can I fix this by cutting out and only replacing outer?

What I did not realize as the inside of the bedside is sold integral with the outside! Like I said. If you cannot fix a chevy square body, you should sell your tools.

    Somebody help a newbie!

I’d do the compression test first! If it’s bad, save your money. You can look at the plugs too and get a good picture before buying any parts

Help identifying this transmission, and an OD 4 speed to replace it.

I'd like some help identifying this tranny (3 speed from an 81/6 cylinder) and some ideas on available replacements for it. I would like a 4 speed with a highway OD 4th gear. Hopefully, I can still use my hurst shifter and same hole in floor, but, I can adapt.. I know this is a saginaw, but...

Green Gas Monkey Wrecked Truck being rebuilt.

I watched as much as I could of this Alex rebuilds series on the c10 and gave up. He just was kinda clueless. "Please every body comment and tell me what I'm doing wrong.." Starting over on a well used truck would have been much better, if he had a clue. I do what I can, not what I can't. How...

Can I fix this by cutting out and only replacing outer?

As you can tell, I'm not looking for pretty, but just capable of using it as a truck. It runs great, has only 80,000 or so miles on it in 42 years (someone stole the dash out of it about 3 years before I bought it from family friends.) The carfax showed all service since new and I could see...

Can I fix this by cutting out and only replacing outer?

Thanks all (so far) I tried straightening it last year. No luck that metal was bent way out of ever coming back. The choices I see are welding in a patch panel, replacing the entire panel, or a bed swap. This bed is so nice inside (and I have a crane in the back) that I think I'm going to...

Can I fix this by cutting out and only replacing outer?

I’m just retiring from my retirement business of classic car repair. But I had a body man! John retired and the new guy is a $&@“. I have a welder, but really stink at it. I want to learn on MY truck. It may take a while, but I’ll have learned.

Can I fix this by cutting out and only replacing outer?

My almost perfect truck needs some work. I'd Like to cut only the outer panel off the bed and weld in a bought patch panel or outer panel complete. . See photos. The inside is so nice, I'd like to keep this original bed.. These are older photos, but I could not pound out these 17 year old dents...

    New clapped out ‘87 350

Fort worth, Texas, Find yourself a good racing parts supplier that is local and have them help you finding parts. For our Squares, its easy... I have searched for parts for classics of all countries and years and the Chevy trucks are easiest to find parts for. Good luck. Call if you need help

This is probably a bad idea, but I'm too cheap to pay for a tow.

Tow it..NO problem. What will the trailer rental cost? If the trailer is pricey, make life simple and call the tow truck guy.

    Problem bleeding

replace the left rear brake line. I usually buy a standard brake line stick that is too long, shape and cut it ½" or so long, flare the cut end (don't forget the fitting before the new flare), and I bet that will fix it. Your line is just clogged. Also, I use a mytyvac unit to suck the brake...
