    Caster settings 1977 C10

I don't know what the spec is but I've always just dialed in (or told the shop to do it) as much positive caster as you can get. Done that on every car I've ever lined or paid to be lined. It drives much better that way, is more stable and the wheel returns to center better.

Opinions on best newish Suburban or Tahoe

Wow, that's a beaut! I agree about it being priced too high. However, something to keep in mind is that generation truck is just on the cusp of becoming a collector/classic so the values are pretty much bottomed out right now. They never really "went away" or "out of style", I still see tons of...

    Fleetside Bumper Brackets

I don't know what those are, but they're not sport bumper brackets. Are those for a step bumper? We sell new sport bumper brackets for between $90-$110.

What to run? 3:42 or 3:73?

Same, a 28" tire physically measured. That put me just below 2300 at 70. But a 4L60/65/70 has a .69 OD, you have a .75 I believe. I always forget the 80 doesn't have as much overdrive. So you'd be more around 2500 at 70mph. That might be a bit much if you're gonna be on the highway a ton...

What to run? 3:42 or 3:73?

4.10 minimum. The 4L80 sucks so much power up, you need more gear. I had a 3.90 with my 5.3/4L65 and 315/35/20s and it was perfect, the 60 sucks alot less power out of the drivetrain. There's only a few hundred RPM difference between 3.73 and 4.10, it'll cruise the hwy just fine with 4.10s

    Brake Fluid Flush GMT800

No, this was on previous trucks, not the current one. Trucks were up and operational with a working ABS module. I had my dad help me and just went slow on the pedal with each pump so we didn't freak out the module. IIRC, we did this with the key off/truck asleep

    Brake Fluid Flush GMT800

I have done an old school bleed on these a couple times and it worked fine, just make sure it's the old school slow pump method, not the rapid pump method.

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

So then I finished up the bumper mods and got it hung on there. Ended up adding a couple washers on top of the puck to tighten the gap at the bottom of the fenders/grille This was the reason for cutting the front bumper brackets. Had to cut the angle off the stock bracket, use one existing...

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

Continued on this Monday. Got the the wheels/tires pulled off, loaded them and the 35x11.50 Nitto Ridge Grapplers I'd bought in the truck and took them to the tire shop at lunch. Idk if I posted about this, I bought these a little at a time off marketplace lol. The first one was from a buddy off...

    Brake Fluid Flush GMT800

I need to do this as well, the brakes on my '05 work just fine but the pedal goes a little further than I feel it should and just feels mushy. Front and rear brakes are all completely new as of 2mo after buying last summer, parking brake/rear drums are adjusted correctly. Figure it's either old...

What have you done to your square lately??

I might need to add a column rebuild to the next series of upgrades on my truck, I can't start it in the highest 2 positions or the lowest one. Hmm

What have you done to your square lately??

Well, the glass guy was in the area and showed up today. 1.5hr later, got a fresh 'shield. Reused the gasket and lock strip too, so saved a bit there. It looks so naked now without all my stickers lol Also had to go with a tinted w/tint band cuz we were out of the clear. Was worried it would...

What new tools have you got lately?

It's awesome having good neighbors like that. I grew up in a neighborhood where about 15 of the families were good friends and always helping each other out/borrowing stuff and all us kids were friends. It's sad that that's the exception, not the rule. 2 different homes I've lived in now, I only...

    New to me, 2004 Avalanche

Avalanche's have never been my cup of tea but when they're set up properly, they can look killer (lowere or leveled/lifted with a good wheel/tire and some color matching). You should also consider the SUVs. The Avalanche is basically just a Tahoe/Burb with the top cut off. I've had 2 GMT800 SUVs...

What new tools have you got lately?

My dad has several of those and reminisces about the "good ole days" all the time. He used to work in dealerships and at one time in the late 70s/early 80s was THE Corvette guy in the area. I've been on him about getting a project car and something with a carb so he can tinker with what he...

    Front spring question

^This. The only trucks that are dead nuts level are on coilovers since they have easy, minute adjustability. That's one thing I love about 4x4 NBS trucks, I can make small adjustments with the torsion bars to get it within 1/4" on all 4 corners. Just gotta tell the alignment guy not to touch the...

What have you done to your square lately??

Oh yeah, we had them in stock, so I got one pulled first thing yesterday morning. Just waiting for my glass guy to come put it in, I think he said he'll be here Thursday

    Tailgate security solution needed

I have never seen one for these trucks, I'd definitely be curious to see if anyone has/knows of one. I will say generally, a normal soft tonneau has been enough to ward off idle hands for me so far and I've had my truck in some sketchy areas overnight. Thankfully with no issues

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

So then I moved onto the bed. This was a tad sketchy, but not too bad. Same thing, the hardware changed here too. So I just set it down on the pucks for now Then moved onto the front bumper. Had to trim off the lower edge of the brackets and then bolt on their new bracket to reach down to the...

    Huck's daily - 2005 Z71 crewcab

Got the pucks installed on that side and went to throw in the bolts, found that 6 of the 8 cab mount bolts are too big. WTF o_O Come to find out, GM changed the bolt size in the middle of these trucks. I'd horse traded for this kit years ago from my buddy, he'd bought it for his '06 Sierra. The...
