    Electrical Connection at Blower Motor?

Similar to the guy who posted the "Boot on blower motor" thread, I cracked my boot during installation of the new blower motor. Moreover, I can't even get my connector to lock in place, so I had to use electrical tape and zip-ties for now. NAPA says the part referenced in the thread above...

    Blower Motor Gasket?

UPDATE--Today I installed the new blower motor from Rock Auto. I tried adding the 3M "Strip Calk" gasket as is without stretching and thinning it. Of course, the screws were too short to easily install the new motor with the gasket. Before pressing hard to force the motor on, I looked closer at...

I finally realized why I like working on my '81 C10 so much

Getting back to the title of this thread. I learned to drive in a squarebody suburban, and my family owned two while I was growing up. I bought my C10 a few years ago because I remembered fondly those years with the suburban--the sound of the transmission, the smell of the cabin, the feel of the...

    Blower Motor Gasket?

3M sells “Strip Calk”. Lots of brand alternatives on Amazon.

    Blower Motor Gasket?

Mine has wire attached to a motor mounting screw on one end and the firewall on the other end.

    Blower Motor Gasket?

I recently bought a replacement blower motor but it didn’t come with a gasket. An old LMC Truck video on YouTube shows an installation with a pre-cut gasket. From looking around at various vendors, it seems that most replacement motors don’t come with a gasket. Olde Carr Guy on YouTube used foam...

I finally realized why I like working on my '81 C10 so much

Yep--it's gorgeous. Well done. Question: Does your air cleaner use a THERMAC or is it electronic? I ask because I'm thinking of going back to my factory unit and I've been wondering what others are doing. Don't mean to hijack the thread--just had one quick question.

Noise not likely blower motor/wheel—what else?

    Huh. Good to know!

Noise not likely blower motor/wheel—what else?

I stand corrected and, as always, so grateful for the members on this forum. I unplugged the wire and then the bad motor stopped. Looks like I’m in the market for a new motor. I like the way Rock Auto shows my options. Thanks again!

Noise not likely blower motor/wheel—what else?

Loud, awful noise under passenger dash, even when the heating/cooling/fan settings are off. What other moving parts are under there? My guess is there’s a vacuum connection that’s loose. Letting off the gas pedal sometimes quiets the noise. Grateful for any suggestions.

    Rust Under Molding/Trim--Magnets?

I’m still considering doing the same. Part of my deliberation is whether to replace the molding with striping along the color changes. What did you do?

How Best to Clear Fender and Cowl Drains?

Many thanks. I’ve seen the windshield drains in photos but not yet on my truck. Will spend time on those—carefully.

    Highliner in a crew cab?

Did you pull the trigger on a highliner? I have one that the PO installed. I'm looking to replace 4 speakers and stereo, and I'm wondering if additional components are really necessary for quality sound.

    Cowl Screen

I just cleaned mine out today and wondered the same thing. Adding a screen is a good idea, but I'll have to think about how to make it look good. There isn't much room underneath for a clean install. Perhaps cutting holes for the clips would work, then trimming excess around the edge of the cowl...

How Best to Clear Fender and Cowl Drains?

Relatively clean, low-mileage, 1980 C10. After finding rust under the bedside molding stickers likely due to poor paint prep (see my previous posts), I am now in full rust-prevention mode. Today I got under the fenders to clear out the fender and cowl drains with an air hose. The problem is that...

    Rust Under Molding/Trim--Magnets?

That makes sense. The PO repainted the bedsides and my detailer opened my eyes to just how lousy the paint job was. So I wouldn't be surprised if the stickers lifted the paint. Though I only posted one pic, the damage is under nearly every sticker on that bedside molding. Many thanks for the...

    Rust Under Molding/Trim--Magnets?

Yep--my 1980 has the same two tone trim and it all looks to be attached with the factory trim clips and adhesive. I'm leaning towards replacing with magnets or real pinstripes. Here's Part 2 of Dirty Dan's pinstripe masterpiece...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FofSG7Q0zJM

    Rust Under Molding/Trim--Magnets?

1980 Fleetside Silverado is rusting under the bedside molding/trim where the stickers attached to the truck. See attached pic. I love the look but I hate the idea of re-attaching the molding/trim in the same way after repairing the damage. I vaguely recall someone on here mentioning he uses...

    Gasoline in vapor canister

Thanks for the reply. My mechanic wants to replace my 3-port with a 6-port but isn’t certain it will solve the problem. Your post suggests the problem is likely elsewhere. Can you give me more details about replacing the selector valve? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Gasoline in vapor canister

I’ve heard a lot about tank switch failures and people going to one tank. Seems like we could get this right by now. Yes, I have two canisters—one for each tank I think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
