    6.5 turbo swap

In order to use a 6.5TD in a square there may be 2 issues; 1) the down pipe won't fit without a body lift, and 2) the a/c on the firewall, if equipped, may be in the way. I thought the 6.2 had slightly higher compression than the 6.5 so you need to go easy with how much boost it gets. I could...

    Heater Motor?

A dead give-away would be the lack of "off" on the blower speed switch.

    Flickering headlights issue

I had finicky headlight issues on my old '84 C10. Turned out to be a bad connection and/or the fusible link off the starter solenoid.

Dumb down headlight relays for me.

When I've come across a one side brighter than the other issue, first thing I check are the grounds. Your results may differ, success is not guaranteed.

1973 Chevy Camper Special from CA - VIN?

maybe a 20 cab on a 30 chassis? There should be numbers stamped on the frame, transmission, transfer case and both axles that will narrow things down.

Best all-around solvent for engine work?

Gasoline, also a good way to get rid of any older mower fuel.

    Pull 6.2 and 700r4 as a unit?

The 6.2 can come out by itself, unless the 700 also needs attention I'd leave it in. The last time I pulled a 6.5TD the truck needed fenders and a core support so I removed the entire nose.

1973 Chevy Camper Special from CA - VIN?

My 427 & 396 have "pass Hi Perf" cast into the block, I thought all early BBC's have that casting. I'm old and could be mistaken. The block casting number you are looking for is just behind the driver side head near the bell housing.

1973 Chevy Camper Special from CA - VIN?

The date code/casting #'s of the engine will give you an idea of which came first. Were 454's available in 1973?

    Boxed Frame or not?

Boxed frames can trap a lot of road salt and/or other debris.

    Brake line, opinions needed.

I had to do a lot of straightening of the pre-bent lines to get around the cross-members, fuel lines clutch linkage & front leaf spring mounts. I would only go with pre-bent again on a stripped down bare frame.

6.2 diesel loosing 12v on the IP shutoff solenoid

Don't forget about where the harness goes thru the firewall or the switch on the steering column.

Where to get pre-bent fuel lines?

On my 2005 I replaced the fuel lines with the nylon/plastic/hdpe/un-obtainium or whatever that material is. Just a thought.

    Gas Gauge woes

Your fuel gauge issue may not be related to needle bumping. Google "GM fuel gauge troubleshooting" and start there. Give a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to fish, he eats for life.

    hood ding repair

Grinding and filling the dings would be the least expensive, mig the cracks with .023 solid core wire & Ar/Co2 gas, or replace the hood.

    another 16.5 post

16.5's are still available from Firestone to name one, some for trucks, more for trailers and lots for skid steers. My '74 had 16.5's with one piece rims.

Do I need new door hinges, springs, or pins/bushings?

The fenders can stay on. You'll need a floor jack, short chunk of 2x4 and a helper to steady the unhinged door while installing the replacement hinges.

    Manifold vacuum Tee

If it's not a 100 point restoration, sometimes the plumbing department at a local hardware or big box store will have something that will work.

Do I need new door hinges, springs, or pins/bushings?

My vote also is for new hinges, both upper & lower. I never could understand the thinking on the thru the dash hinge bolt. My '55.1 has that setup for the hood hinges.
