There is not to much to know about piston and rod assembly except the big chamfer on the one side of the rod will go to the outside of the crank. It's Thursday and had a little shop time. Block is clean now, and was able to install the crank and get it all torqued down. Got the valve covers back from the powder coater, and I like them. Was a beautiful day, pic off my front porch.- Craig Nedrow

My mufflers are Holly Aero-Chamber, Headers are Flow Master 1 7/8 for a chevelle. It is what I orignally ran on the mostly stock 454. Exhaust is 3" and really like the sound of the system, and it's going to sound lots better with the higher compression.- Craig Nedrow

Some done today. Back cam bearing was too tight, unfortunately I had installed the crank. Fortunately the crank spun so nice , but I pulled it and was able to hone/ scrape in the back bearing. Post 454 rebuild and oil consumption
I run the thinnest oil I can, determined by mechanical clearances in your engine. I use Schaffer. Do not over fill the pan. I generally leave mine 1/2 qt. Low and watch my oil pressure. Looking for Mickey Thompson rims
I always ran US Mag Indy 101, they have 17X10, but I contacted them, and they were very responsive, and would put in any BC you want on any size wheel, Ex., 15X10 8X 6.5. The ones in the pic are, unfortunately, 16.5 X10, tires are 12.5X33.- Craig Nedrow

Magnetic Block Heaters, Gas Engine?
Do not know how cold it gets in Mass, but Rick is right. Mag heaters work somewhat, easy to install. Hose heaters work great if it circulates. Easy to install. Busy, but not on this. However got the lifters in today, and told my wife this was like diamonds and ruby's to me. Cant wait to get some of this stuff together, and much of the tedious prep is done. Put in the soft plug in the back of the engine, behind the cam, then back on engine stand. Deburred and checked the rings in the bore. E-Brock oval air gap intake, headers 1 7/8 tube for chevelle, short duration cam no more then 280 ([email protected]) 750 holly. That’s about $1000. Bucks and best bang for your buck. I also notched the block to help with intake shrouding, 1st two pics. For those that want to know, stay .06 off the top of the ring, and use your head gasket as a templet and scribe a line. With the pan off like you have it, position any easier to get to rod at 90 degrees, unbolt cap and pull it off. install 3/8 hose on rod bolts if rods are stock, and turn crank another 90*, now you can measure.
