What have you done to your square lately??
Cleaning things up for manifold install once it’s back. Chased all the bolt holes, cleaned and vacuumed, then masked areas off for paint. Topside creeper was a big help, plus you get a great abdominal workout! :D -
What new tools have you got lately?
Wife got me an early Fathers Day tool, a topside creeper to reach those hard to get to places. Will be great when I need to install my intake and distributor when the intake gets back. In the meantime she certainly seems to like it! :D -

Hoping somebody here at GMSB can tell me what Ford oil pan this is, rear sump or mid sump? I’ve looked and looked on line but can’t find any good answers. From reading, mid sumps were unusual but were used for engines sold to motor home manufacturers, which is what this engine was in. It looks...- WFarm

The machine shop is only about 9 miles from my place, good size building on the owners farm. The owner is a few years younger than me and probably 6’6” and close to 300 lbs, very little of which is fat. Decided that the pitting in those two cylinders was bad enough to warrant getting the block bored, so off we go to the machine shop. What new tools have you got lately?
Got this vintage Sears Penske made in USA (1970s) exhaust gas analyzer. Seems to have never been used, still in box with manual. Popped in 3 C cell batteries and it came to life. Should be fun to use to tune carbs. -

Mud and rust in cylinders 1 and 2. I was able to slightly rotate it so it's not hard siezed, just hung up on that rust. Pic is #1. #2 is not quite as bad. Other cylinders look pretty decent.- WFarm

Going through what I removed when I pulled the intake manifold and came across this on the distributor! How did this even work! Not sure but I believe I wasn’t far from a breakdown. -

Pulled the intake manifold to ship out for polishing. So now have several weeks to do odds and ends until manifold is returned. The manifold is a vintage Weiand dual plane unit that has instructions on how to pronounce Weiand cast right into it. “SAY WHY-AND”. The polishing shop said they... -
Exhaust gas analyzer
Anybody have a recommendation for an Exhaust Gas Analyzer that will provide AFR info? Looking at a couple of vintage Sears tools like the one pictured below, but going that route can be risky. Was hoping for a modern digital tool if not priced way high. -

Installed the exhaust manifolds this morning. Still need to hook up the exhaust pipes this afternoon and install the new hangers. Used the Exhaust Manifold Heat Curing tool last night to cook a delicious supper.:Big Laugh: -
