A total power loss would also kill the radio. Not sure how the radios are wired for power (through ignition or other???), but I am wondering if it is powered through the ignition switch, would the switch cause any issues like this that it kills power to everything..??

    Frustrated 87 GMC owner!

Welcome! I thought the same thing as @AyWoSch Motors with "whats wrong with it" that you want to do an engine swap? Well, being a typical guy, nothing has to be wrong except you want more power, and a great V8 sound

Shutting down while driving after much work PLEASE AND THANK YOU

This sounds a LOT like my 96 Suburban 1 Ton 454 (yes, 1 ton, not a typical 3/4.....it was a special order for the Fire Department ;) )...anyhow I digressed there! My suburban would do that too, never left me stranded but scared the he!! out of a guy when pulling out into traffic and "poof" all...

What have you done to your square lately??

I bought these from a friend that went another route for his exhaust (he built a blown big block 41 Chevy Coupe), so I paid quite a bit less for them than listed here. They are Quick Time Performance electric cutouts, 3 inch. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/qtp-qtec60

What have you done to your square lately??

Wired up the noise makers, those are loosely installed for now as I need longer bolts (hey, if fuel is going to be this expensive, everyone will hear every penny of it being used :Big Laugh: ) "THEE" switch ;)

I let me son buy this... I know I know...

This was an interesting read :p Does he not have the dirt-bike anymore, or haul it with a trailer behind the Tahoe?

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Do you mean for each one, oil, clock, temp, volt? Or for the whole set?

Gauge Cluster--73 to 87 (100mph speedo, clock, no O.D., no tach)

Bringing this back to top to try to sell it (see original post). Open to an offer on it since the gauges are mixed in years a bit! Honestly, not sure what it is worth, nor what to ask!

What have you done to your square lately??

I did a whole lot more exhaust work this weekend. I just need to brace the tail pipes (where the red ratchet straps are) and then I am almost done! I have to also put on my electric cutouts. Never used band clamps before, they worked great and cinched up very nice! I did not want to take down...

As I said, I can't wait to hear this baby fire up :gay:

What have you done to your square lately??

I worked on the exhaust tonight......again......from the mufflers back, took me a few hours, what a pain, but I got it! Not super productive, but it needed to be done. Have both left & right matched up now, so I can hang them and hook from my cutouts to the mufflers. One pipe had one small bend...

Well, I am far enough along that I hope one of these weeks soon I can fire this pig up. Been a long time coming....

corvette side pipes on 87 step side

I had not thought of that, you make a good point there. Some will pay decent money for original stuff, even if that stuff needs restoration. That may pay for new repop chrome pipes of choice.

corvette side pipes on 87 step side

That depends on how much money you want to spend. Chroming something isn't cheap, and if your pipes are pitted up, they may not even chrome them for you. Might I suggest that you clean up the pipes & guards really well, then spray high temp matte black on the pipes (even a rattle can), and...

corvette side pipes on 87 step side

@katie87 I think either way would look fine, if done right. If you do stacks I would think setting them up like the old Dodge Truck "Lil Red Express" has them would be a good way to do it. Or maybe inside the box through the floor, to the inside of the frame rails???.... For side pipes...

I took my first shot at making an exhaust system this weekend. Got some of it done up the exhaust cutouts!

    Mean sounding cams worth it?

I hear you there! It is still hard for me not to go "all in" on something. It is nice though, because you get to drive it around some, then do a little at a time on it which is usually Saturday work, and then you get to drive it around more until the next weekend of tinkering. My friends dad...

    Mean sounding cams worth it?

@Avery brown welcome to the site, good to see another young guy getting into this stuff.....dam I sound old as heck right now (40). Reading your first post reminded me of myself, I was around 13 when I got my 51 Ford Truck (used to be my dads when he was younger). Man, I was all giddy and...

    '76 GMC 1 ton (454) radiator???

Well, I am back at this...again. I think I have found something that will work for this truck. @bucket do you see any reason this radiator would not work? I may pull a camper once in a while locally (no more than 30 miles from home), but mostly this truck will be for cruising.....not sure if I...

    Wood grain GMC dash insert

No worries! This is NOT something that would be needed asap. I may want to do a conversion some year, for now I just have to get it on the road. Thanks for checking! Sorry to hijack your thread.

4" Front Drop Questions (shock/drop spindle combo)

I am not a suspension guru, but if it were my truck and I did not want to buy new shocks I would try it and if it does not work (bottoms out the shock while driving) then I would get a shorter shock for the front. You would only be compressing the shock 1 inch more with the coil you plan to use...
