    Not sure if it's dye or paint. The back side is black plastic. FYI they must paint them to order. I had a hand written date on the back with the color code and a date 3 days after I ordered them.

    Front sway bar install troubles

    In the early 90's my '77 K5 I had a 6" lift and tried using some drop down blocks on the front mounts; they didn't line up either. Back then I went without the blocks and forced it. I'm sure that's why it rode stiff even though it was a soft ride Skyjacker lift.

    The 14 bolt 1-ton spring perches and shock mounts are narrower than a 3/4 ton. Also the shock mounts are reversed. Here's my SRW K30. K30 K20

    With the old Rancho lift it would have never rubbed. You mainly got frame flex... The Tuff County EZ Ride flexing would have caused rubbing.

    California has always been "unique" with regards to smog. I've had 8 Squares, 6 with 454's, but the oldest 1 ton is my '85. I had a '77 K5 with an SBC 400/HD emissions and an '80 C20 3+3 with a 454/ HD emissions. Both ran on Regular fuel, but had smog pumps and assorted ported vacuum...

    Axle Identification

    I know when I did the axle swap in my '79 I used an '82 Suburban rear and it had the numbers on the tube, but I didn't research it. I always pull the cover and look at the numbers on the ring gear.

    tire fitment??

    I actually like the Rally rims better. If I did the 8 spokes, I would be going with a look similar to the CHiP's truck. Trim rings, chrome center caps and some type of painted center. They are actual GM Dessert Fox package wheels, but the look could be easily copied. Photo #3.
