Another leaf spring question: (plastic shims).

Thanks, they prob do. This is the only place I found the sliders with the "button". After blasting I found a lot of wear on all four of the springs that I thought were perfect, especially on the one where the slider slid out. They sell the replacement spring packs reasonable, I may go that route.

Another leaf spring question: (plastic shims).

Well, I dug around more and found a site "General Spring". Search "leaf springs", then "leaf spring parts", then "tip inserts". They have round, square, and rectangle shims. They have one that looks exactly like mine with the same oval hole. A few other sites have them also but they...

Another leaf spring question: (plastic shims).

I posted a question a while back about these plastic shims but that was before I took my springs apart. Now I see there is a hole on each end of one of the leafs that had a plastic shim that snapped in place. The pass side had the little plastic nub broke off so the shim scooted away from the...

    Parking Brake Mechanism Question

Thanks, that's what I'll do on the broke one. On the other that's sticking out I guess I'll leave it alone since it was working, I just don't like knowing it's not right. It doesn't look like this can be took apart very easy.

    Parking Brake Mechanism Question

Hello, I've searched and haven't found an answer for this: In my pic there's a red arrow pointing to a spring that appears to be working, but the end sticking out doesn't look right, if I tuck it in with a screwdriver it goes back to the same position, is this normal? Also the spring with...

Moog Ball Joint Boot Slipping Off

Whether I overthought it or not I said I'd post back so here it is: I didn't like the gap around the bottom of the moog lower ball joint boot so I tried both Energy Suspension and Prothane. The Energy Suspension boot is short, doesn't fit very tight at the base of the ball joint, and exposes...

Moog Ball Joint Boot Slipping Off

I'm thinking with a 1/8 gap that dirt, etc will stick and prob get in. I got a set of energy suspension boots on the way, I'll see how they do and post back.

Moog Ball Joint Boot Slipping Off

It will go down if you press it, it just pops back up because there isn't enough flat area for the ring in the boot to grab. See pic 4 above, the splined area sticks up a little but then the taper starts and makes it slip up.

Moog Ball Joint Boot Slipping Off

Thanks all for the replies. I guess it'll have to be ok then. I can compress it by hand as if the spindle was on and it doesn't go down any lower. I was just concerned about the large gap. I'll have to be sure to not over grease.

Moog Ball Joint Boot Slipping Off

Hello. I'm finally getting my controls arms finished after blast, paint, bushings, and I just pressed the lower ball joints in and the grease boot slips up after I press them down. This is on a 78 C10. Ball joints are Moog K6117T. Before I complain or blame Moog I'm wondering what I can be...

    LED Shop Lights That Last??

Barrina is what my 8 ft's are, which are failing at two years. I'm starting to think the heat is a big factor since in my shop in the summer it gets real hot and 10 ft up it the hottest where they are mounted.

    LED Shop Lights That Last??

That's a good point. I need to make some caution stickers to make sure nobody ever puts a glass tube back in since the ballast are removed, thanks.

    Any E Brake Cable Upgrades?

I will update soon I hope, I just painted the frame and it's on saw horses so I got to get a few things back together before I can try it out. It will be a while before the cab gets back on so I plan on just connecting the factory front cable to the pedal mechanism to mock it up and see how it...

    LED Shop Lights That Last??

I replaced all my shop lights in my 30 x 30 shop with Led bulbs. I have 8 fixtures that hold two 8ft bulbs each and another 8 fixtures that I flick on for painting only, so a total of 16 fixtures = 32 bulbs total. I bought the bulbs from Amazon and bypassed the ballast. They work great and are...

    Proportioning Valve and Bleeding

I just bought the same tool and a new PV_4 valve. I've never used this tool before so I'm interested how it works out for you, I still have to install new lines, master, etc on a new build so it'll be a while before I get to it.
