Footwell, rockers and cab corner replacement

This Fit everything with pop rivets, Cleco fasteners or weld tacks. If you're fitting all new aftermarket fenders, doors and rust repair pieces, it's not going to be an easy job. I would almost want to use the rusty OEM sheetmetal to get the rocker and cab corner lined up together before trying...

    interior rehab

Looks great!! You did a awesome job!!. I am in the middle of my interior rehab and can appreciate what it took to get it to that level. You just don't wake up on Saturday morning and expect to have it done in time for the game that afternoon.

What have you done to your square lately??

Put it in the garage, pulled the brush guard, bumper and unbolted the core support. dropped the wheel houses out off it. I am getting ready to swap engines along with changing the a/c evaporator and heater core. Reseal the case, new blower motor, new compressor, condenser, accumulator and a/c...

Replacing the TBI engine, suggested upgrades or changes?

Thank you for bringing this up, I have been reading that thread and still thinking about what to do. I agree on the roller cam set up but doing it with new parts gets expensive I started the swap part today, getting the old motor out first, we will see.

    K case 700R4

700's in 4x4 application were K case and tapped for the heavy, bolt on torque converter cover with the thread bosses to mount the strut rods to the engine mount brackets. Normal 2 wheel drive applications did not use the heavy duty torque converter cover. They are getting hard to find and...

    1981-87 Chrome body side molding

A trick I have used in the past for removing them quickly and painlessly is use a piece of high lb fishing line and used it to cut the tape/adhesive from the paint. No nicks, gouges and if done right, no clean up. Just wax and grease remover the area and install the new ones. Another point I...

    Tonneau cover recommendation

Ben, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, Mar K went out of business. If somebody has that box you want in stock, grab it. 4/1/25 was their last day and from what I gather it wasn't pretty.

    Tonneau cover recommendation

I ordered a Craftec for my step side. It's been assembled, waiting for me to finish the truck, sitting in the spare bed room since Covid but still think it's a good choice. https://www.crafteccovers.com/1954-87-Chevy-Stepside-64-SWB_p_30.html...

Replacing the TBI engine, suggested upgrades or changes?

I have looked at his site numerous times and am reaching out to hear real world examples. I never played with SBCs other than a couple TPI F bodies in the 90's and I just drove them. I put a budget of $1000 for mods, just want to get the best bang for my buck.

    New Car Hauler

That is a nice trailer, appears well made and has enough capacity to haul about anything auto or light truck. I am still kicking myself in the *** for buying an older used trailer. I have just about as much as a new one tied up in it after sorting the brakes, wheel bearings and adding options...

Ouch, well, it's fixed and fixed right

    700R4 and 208C

That trans case is 4x4 specific, with a large K cast into it near the bell housing and bolt on flywheel cover. You may consider looking for a rusty parts truck and having it shipped to you just to solve the whole problem

What new tools have you got lately?

I watch a ton of on line auctions because I try to buy and sell cars and such. A pallet of garage tools came up and I won the bid at $65. The scan tools are out dated and only go to I think '09 but will work on my Tacoma and my '87 Gm trucks because they have OBD1 cables too. It can register...

How to properly remove a cab without damage

This is how I did it last time, the gravel made it difficult but it works ok on a concrete garage floor. I made a support that mounts to the top off an engine hoist and grabs the roof pinch welds. We used Home Depot cull lumber, the ones with the purple paint on them that are damaged or twisted...

    Wheel restoration

Those were 15x8 or 8.5. Again, his price was ok, it's the freight that screws it up. He will need detailed pics or the wheels shipped to him to give the full estimate. I honestly do not remember what the wheels were individually, it was 2-3 years ago I will look for the receipt.

    Wheel restoration

I bought a set of wheels on Ebay and once they showed up were not in usable condition. I then located "Jason's Wheel Repair" in Chino CA 909 591-1220 who was able to bore the damaged lug areas and insert tapered inserts. He then cleaned, powdercoated them grey and did a brush finish on the...

    Tailpipe search

This is off of a '87 stepside, CA emission 5.7 TBI and is obviously different. I honestly was just going to cut the bad parts out, form patches and weld them in if I choose to go factory. I am sure it will last for the next lifetime and nobody will notice or care.

    Anybody buy from OBStrucksparts.org?

So I called them over lunch today..... :rotflmao: :rotflmao: A man with a thick accent answered, I had to call back twice to verify he represented that website, asked me to leave a message, voicemail, LOL, I left my number. About an hour later I got a text... And crickets, he never...

Replacing the TBI engine, suggested upgrades or changes?

I agree with you but the engine was in great shape to begin with, it only had 10K miles after it was installed before the truck body rusted away from the CA coast, dealer maintained with new distributor and rebuilt throttle body weeks before they gave up on it. I have new AC Delco tune up stuff...

    87 TBI 350

You stated it has long tube headers, where is the o2 sensor located? Is it a one wire? It's tough to get them to function down by the collector as they need to be 650 degrees to work right. A heated one may be in order for the computer to read it...

    Anybody buy from OBStrucksparts.org?

That is my concern, it just doesn't look right. It has pictures of items I want at prices less than market but the web site was not put up by a car person, it's a template with no reviews

Replacing the TBI engine, suggested upgrades or changes?

I decided to install a TBI 5.7 LO5 Goodwrench crate motor I pulled from another vehicle in my '87 K10 with a tired 5.0 TBI. It ran and drove well so it should be just plug and play. My goals are reliability, drivability, fuel economy, and towing. I don't see a reason for it to ever be over 5k...

    Anybody buy from OBStrucksparts.org?

I plan on but searching for feedback first. Companies like USA1 Industries answers the phone, promises the world, but are difficult to actually deal with and obtain your product in a reasonable time frame. This is documented on numerous boards, posts and from my own personal experience. I just...

    Anybody buy from OBStrucksparts.org?

I was searching the web the other day and came across OBStrucksparts.org. They offer custom interior kits at a price point less than what some places charge for just the seat. I have been around the block a couple times to know if seems to good to be true, it often isn't what it seems. The...

whats every body using.. looking for a new stereo head unit

I saw an article where a guy used this and thought it was the way to go. I would mount the factory radio where it belongs and run this behind it with the receiver in the ash tray to stream from my phone . Decent power and sound, modern amenities but factory looks...
