    Rust Repair on Squarebody Chevy

Took me about 3 minutes with the AMD catalog to decide to take a trip to Arkansas. And honestly, that's pretty much where I'm at for anything nowadays, I'll just head west and get a rust free one.

    Bloop.

    Aftermarket Carb

Yes, I have one, and a whole fuel system, from Evil Energy on a 5.3 right now, works great. I said t it s and it censored me lol

What have you done to your square lately??

Upper 40's all weekend, looking forward to hacking apart this K20 and C10 donor. Would be delightful to have the new body sitting on the old frame by Sunday evening

No, won't be a problem. I like to notch the crossmember on a 4x4 though.

    Carb LS with factory ECU

I've never dynod a stock carb 5.3, I likely never will, can't imagine it makes any more difference than any other EFI vs carb set up. Which is to say, literally the same within a few hp in pretty much every other test ever.

    Carb LS with factory ECU

What limp mode? It will run exactly like this in the truck. Let it flash all the codes it wants to the nonexistent MIL.

    Carb LS with factory ECU

You're acting like this is an interrogation, or as if I'm selling you something lol. Do it, don't do it, I'd lay money on you won't anyway, but either way it's not like I owe twenty answers here.

    Carb LS with factory ECU

Indeed. Vats, when a signal is not received by the BCM, cuts the injector ground. Coils fire based on cam and crank sensor position. As long as they keep getting signals, they'll keep firing. Could be spinning with a squirrel in a cage on the crank pulley for all they care.

What does Vats do in an LS PCM?
  13. Jrgunn5150

    Carb LS with factory ECU

The whole point is you don't have to do a single thing to the PCM. Add carb, crank, it will run exactly the way it is without a single piece of software.

    Carb LS with factory ECU

Can use any carb you like. no matter what brand you choose someone will be along to tell you it's the wrong brand regardless. Point is to demonstrate no aftermarket boxes, harnesses, MSD, Dakota are needed to make the switch to a carb.

    Carb LS with factory ECU

I typically keep my Youtube and forum persona's separate, but it seems not a lot of people know this is a thing. 100% stock PCM, VATs in tact, cheap Amazon harness, carb intake, carb, runs...

    PSI 8.8L big block

I don't think it'll set the world on fire or anything, that intake will keep it from breathing much above 6000 rpm, cam is appropriate for a 540 in that range. I'm expecting maybe 500 tire, probably 600+ of tq. Should make for a nice, lazy, tire fryer. As opposed to the violent light switch...

    PSI 8.8L big block

Cam and bearings on the way, tried like hell to find a way out of 550 bucks for a Comp cam, but big block Chevy roller cams haven't made their way to Maxspeedingrods catalog yet lol. Cam is Comp 11-451-8, XM 284 HR. 284/290 adv, 230/236 @ 0.050, .547/.547, 579/579 with the 1.8 factory rockers...

    Which Impact Tool

I only use Milwaukee because I got some MIlwaukee tools for my wedding and only want one battery lol. Now I'm locked into this strange brand loyalty that really only centers on outlet space.

    PSI 8.8L big block

Fancy CNC ported heads showed up, can get them from Hank Slocum, can find him on 8.8L PSI Big Block Chevy World Facebook group, flow a little over 330 CFM on the intake and 220 on the exhaust. Between the cold and screwing around buying Bobcats, be a good month before I'm ready to install them...

    Which Impact Tool

Don't go by the socket size, go by the battery size. There are M18, 18 volt, 3/8 and 1/2. I don't believe they offer the 1/2 in M12, 12 volt. M18 and M12 batteries do not interchange. With an M12 battery tool, you may still need a breaker bar to get things loose. With an M18, you will not.

What have you done to your square lately??

Do 10B fronts take 10B rear gear sets? Been idly looking for some 4.88's for my K20 and no one seems to cll out specifically the 10B front.

    Which Impact Tool

M18 will do anything, but not fit anywhere. M12 Stubby, will do a lot of things, and fit most places.

How to turn a half ton into a 3/4 ton?

I'm going to make my 1/2 ton into a 3/4 ton, by taking the body on the right, and dropping it onto the frame on the left. Any VIN/title advise, should come from your state authorities. They're all different, and you find many folks when pushed will say something like, oh, that was back in 89...
