    Grounding question

Yes, but for the Young bucks, The next question: What is the big difference between an old truck generator and a newer truck with an alternator? Yes an alternator makes AC current and a rectifier converts it to DC. These are things if you learn, you can fix your own old parts instead of buying...

Anyone know how to disassemble this fender antenna?

1982 Chevy Cavalier antenna base is what I installed on my '82 Square. Drill two small holes on the inner lip of the fender and the larger hole in the top edge of the fender. There is your CB mount! Antenna

The pop up adds I have been receiving are a lot of sh!t. They state anything trying to get you to click them. I figured that's what the OP got sucked into. I need to re-up my membership.

    Grounding question

The condenser helps reduce the arc caused when the points open. Resistor spark plugs and resistor plug wires reduce radio interference. Yeah, you and me both! More useless info, When ever you have a flow of electrons, they create a magnetic field. When ever you have a magnetic field, you have...

    Grounding question

Geek, Ha... far from that. If you didn't read all the posts you missed the only reason I posted AI info. Braided ground strap is for heat dissipation. That reason and that reason only. RF radio interference is caused by things like, spark plugs, plug wires, coils and alternators to name a few...

    Wtb: old license plates

Yes Correct Yes In PA you know it's about the money. First you need to re-register it as a Antique vehicle. Then you need to request the use of a period correct plate. Local tag place can do this. You pay them to run the check to make sure the number is not in use. Since they are notary they...

    Grounding question

The braided design offers several key advantages for automotive applications: Superior Flexibility and Durability: Because the engine sits on flexible rubber or hydraulic motor mounts, it constantly twists and shifts when accelerating or idling. A solid wire would quickly snap or suffer metal...

    Grounding question

No stupid questions, only stupid answers. Some were copper, some steel. Both usually flash plated with what ever was used to plate copper wire connectors. Not the reason I have been told. 6V systems Another hint, what else was stated about 6V systems? Not the reason, but you are right. Could...

    Grounding question

Since we are still talking ground straps, here is the 50 cent question. Why did many older trucks come with a braided ground negative battery cable? I might be able to scrape up another prize for the first correct answer!

    Grounding question

These squares were built with two ground wires to the battery. Large (4 gauge) to the engine, (10 gauge) to the fender. Bolts are the rest, to complete the circuit. Braided ground from the bed to the frame is the dealer professional fix. Not all trucks have this. Keep in mind, the frame also...

The 4 bolt main LIE !!! Or is it???

Yes, if you search Reo accelerator pump on the Holley site, it will show up. That is where I got the picture. I was looking for a picture of a Holley on a Reo. Found one on the SteelSoldiers forum, but I needed to be a member to enlarge it. I did join, nobody there today for confirmation.

The 4 bolt main LIE !!! Or is it???

From AI: AI Overview The Holley "REO" accelerator pump is a heavy-duty, 50cc fuel pump assembly (typically part number 20-11) designed for high-horsepower engines, alcohol/methanol-fueled applications, or extreme-load situations. Standard 30cc pumps are usually adequate for street driving, but...

The 4 bolt main LIE !!! Or is it???

No, Reo made large inline 6 cyl. engines into the 1960's. They had a Holley two barrel carb. Larger 50 cc pump to assure smother acceleration from part throttle. As stated by @Rustisbest you could install this on your Holley with a different cam. Bigger squirt of fuel on acceleration. The...

1977 K10 9j9 sport deluxe stepside with factory tach and roll bar.

Welcome to the forum Tony. You are the collector that knows what it is. Unless you have someone banging down the door to buy it, for lots of money, keep it. You will regret selling it the day it is gone. My 2 cents. Without the matching numbers engine, the collect value is less.

What new tools have you got lately?

Hey Zach, Those long thin wrenches are tappet wrenches. Made thin to adjust valves on old solid lifters on a running (inline) engine. You will not find them useful if you try using them on say, a rusty water pump bolt.

TH350 will not engage after sitting for three months

I should add, you need to take off the small bottom piece of the plastic dash to see the screw. Don't touch the little pointer with your finger. The dry plastic pointer will break off if you breathe on it.

TH350 will not engage after sitting for three months

Simple fix now. The shift indicater needs to be adjusted. Small cable pulls it when you rotate the shift lever. The collar of shifter near the dash, there is a screw on the right side of the collar where the cable is attached. It pulls the cable to move the indicater. Loosen the screw, move it...

    Suburban Lightbar Installation and Advice
