S-10 4.3 headers fit 85/86?
They should fit, when you check applications at Summit for headers they fit small blocks from 1964 - 1994 Most aftermarket headers are made to fit over the square and d shape exhaust port. Post some pics of the headers or the brand.- ali_c20

Replacement carburetor recommendations
I have good experience with Autoline rebuild carbs. Have one on the 66 Impala and the 69 Mustang. If you want good mileage stick to the Rochester it was equipped with. You can tune the carb anyways. I don't know if there are a lot of aftermarket carbs for the L6 that don't require an intake...- ali_c20

This can't be good....
A few years ago the battery of my wife's 66 Impala exploded at a parking lot in front of a restaurant. Late afternoon on a Sunday of course. Voltage regulator was shot and charged the full load into the battery which was pretty old but working. One guy gave me 12 bottles of water he had in his... -
Chassis brackets and rubber motor mounts.
Post some pics of the engine bay, mounts, engine, etc. Swapped a 454 from a 72 chevelle in a friends 77 K5 in a day without any modifications. We reused the sbc motor mounts.- ali_c20

Good enough or perfection
I make my vehicles nice but way not perfect. I want to use them and not worry about small scratches, rain or dirt. Build it how you want it, for me it's a mix on some stuff is perfection and a lot is good enough. -
AC duct 86 K5
Defrost is a different duct system, the Y shaped one. Without A/C when turning on the fan the outlets still work and circulate air. -

Long tube headers vs short tube vs manifolds
I use black Duplicolor Supertherm paint on all my manifolds. Black and Silver withstands 1470°F/800°C. It faded a little after 11 years on the K5 but no rust or chipping paint. I don't know if it's available in the US. 1 rattlecan costs 20$ and coats a pair of manifolds.- ali_c20

Heads and manifolds
My approach would be: Vacuum leaks. Choke function. Timing. Timing has to be set correct. Without proper timing carb adjustment is pointless. Pull Spark plugs to see if you're pig rich or lean. Idle. Carb tuning. (Fuel pressure, float level, rods/jets etc.) A wideband o2 sensor helps a lot when...- ali_c20

Lift decision
I run the 2" Tuff Country ez ride on my K5. It lifted 3" and rides real nice, way better than the stock suspension. The finish of the springs was real rough and one of the shocks was defective out of the box. Summit sent me a new one instantly. The springs are shipped without any packaging, just...- ali_c20

Look what followed me home yesterday

New R134a system - compressor kaput (what to replace)?
You can rebuild the old AC compressor. The ac compressor 047000-SUR Vintage Air sells is a Sanden SD 508 rear exit double v groove / SD5h14 S6630. Sanden is sold in Europe too and when you buy it here you have the 2 years warranty. Go to a good auto parts store or to a tractor repair shop. -
