Backfiring through carb/won’t idle/runs well at higher rpm (new GM crate SP350 w/new Holley 4150). Pls help!

I see you have a PCV. one of those is supposed to be the oil fill, probably the one on your passenger cover with the push in filter thingy That needs to be a cap, not a breather. Consider a late 60s corvette oil cap Youre also using a fuel line for the PCV, that is not the correct hose but it...

your PCV is done wrong You have no PCV valve and 2 breathers, your engine is going to live a short life if you dont flip a valve cover (either of them) and put a PCV valve in

Is this vapor locking, bad pump, or something else?

the switch on the dash will have to be changed too, so expect that its all gotta go, atm, just switch it to the right tank and leave there, then run some new Fuel hose that Meets SAE J30R14T1. This is ultra low permeation fuel hose, I recommend it since youre gonna be running things youd like...

Is this vapor locking, bad pump, or something else?

can you show me the selector valve, is it 3 port? You need to get a 6 port valve and a new switch and wiring. research the topic in search if you want to do it. alternatively it can be done with 2 3 port valves like you have most likely but its complex and prone to issues but it would be...

Is this vapor locking, bad pump, or something else?

WHAT IN THE TARNATION?! Did they think they would fill both tanks equally, tie the feed together, and then return the fuel and vapor to one tank and piggyback it over???!!! You need to remove the plumbing to one tank for now, then in the future you can put a pollack valve in to motarize the...

Is this vapor locking, bad pump, or something else?

Pretty sure your pump looks fine. its got a return line now you need to confirm the return lines run to the tanks in some fashion, so if your switching valve works, is yours a solenoid (which would require 2 of them to handle this) or motorized? also the kinked metal hardline to the carb, thats...

Is this vapor locking, bad pump, or something else?

thats a 78? you have sealed gas caps(DO NOT USE TILL WE DETERMINE MORE) if your gas tanks are 1978 original they may not have return lines and there may have been the intent for you to have a vent line filter on the tank and then a unsealed gas cap with a vent' Ignore the ghetto nature of...

my 1978 tilt column wouldnt work on my 1980 gmc without tilt, but i suspect without tilt would have The LMC catalog calls out 1978 as a special year in cylinders for multiple reasons 1973-1991 for no tilt columns

Is this vapor locking, bad pump, or something else?

the fuel pump is drawing a vacuum on the fuel line from the tank, and its pushing the fuel through the filters to the carb. if the one in the carb is there ,its possibily contributing to it because a harder time to push through would mean resistance and i feel maybe that could lead to increased...

is there two filters in this fuel circuit? The carb has a filter in the inlet.. check for it. if so, the one there is not serving a purpose. But a picture of your current fuel pump would be helpful. And whats your gas cap like

if these guys are right then yours is in the right spot, the switch is by the distributor. if you dont care about the redundant benefit of the switch you can safely replace it.
