Problems with emissions delete
TVS is a sensor [switch] doesn't control temp of motor. They allow [or seal] vacuum flow after a designed temp is reached. How challenging is replacing brake master cylinder?
When bench bleeding do not bottom the piston. Only push it in about 1/2 way. It is possible to cut the lip seal if bottomed out. Won't be as messy if the lid is installed before bolting it on. On older vehicles I usually check that the bleeders can be opened and are not clogged up before... -
LED bulbs in gauge cluster
you said some of the bulbs are hit and miss. That leads me to believe there is power on the circuit so fuse couldn't be an issue. Try the old bulbs see if those work. Actually I put LED's in one truck, wasn't worth the effort. They were higher dollar dimmable and weren't that much brighter...- fast 99

LED bulbs in gauge cluster
LED bulbs are very sensitive to electrical resistance. If turning the bulbs 180 doesn't work clean the printed circuit and socket contacts. I have them in one of my trucks. If looking for a more light, clean housing inside and try either silver or white on the reflector.- fast 99

Bedside repair- wheel well
yes huge mistake to cut and weld. You will chase that dent from one end of the panel to the other. those trucks flex a lot in that area, need to metal finish it as much as possible. Any excessive bondo use will crack out. Not sure thats an hour job possibly 3-4. White will be your friend.- fast 99

Everyone has a method that works for them. line the marks up, rotate engine over until #6 valves are rocking it's at TD or within a couple degrees. If an automatic will need to rotate engine anyway to tighten torque convertor. Recheck TDC before stabbing dist. Some of these late model vehicles...- fast 99

Bone stock 85 305 upgrade
Do some calculations based on cost per gallon and expected millage improvement. Think you will find the numbers don't work out. Even something as simple as a new carb may take 20,000 miles to break even. I used to do these calculations for our fleet when selecting motor size/fuel on new...- fast 99

cleaning the wiper motor
wiper transmissions are most likely dry as well. Remove wiper linkage, 1/8" drill housing on back side, use a grease needle to lubricate. Seal hole with RTV.- fast 99

1976 Silverado C10 Fuel Pump needed
I have the 6 port aftermarket single valve on one truck. thought about what I would do if it failed. Might be more trouble than installing the factory set up but what about a pair of the 3 port valves with a single on off on switch?- fast 99

Jack placement
handle and lug wrench mounted on R wheelhouse on 81. If you want a picture Can attach one but don't think it applies to the 80 and older trucks. I think the entire jack placement and design changed in 81. -

Reman carbs are junk, nearly all of them. Q-jet is the best all round carb for a stock GM. Know some disagree with that but is usually because they don't understand how they work. Do agree they can be more time consuming to repair or jet on than Holly. Apparently there are custom rebuilders...- fast 99

That engine must be very sensitive. On hot days especially I did notice when truck got filled with ethanol fuel instead of e free it idled a little rough. My brother borrowed the truck. He didn't know I used e free. Guess that $150 fill up scared him. Agree, can't imagine the public today...- fast 99

Havent ran into that exact issue however NAPA buys parts from all over the world. Even 2 wheel cylinders, ball joints or tie rods, purchased at the same time may come from entirely different country and not appear the same. If the old drums are not causing the issue take the NAPA drums back and...- fast 99

Hydraulic booster options
Hydraulic lines are a different design. PS pump would also need to be changed and possibly master cylinder. If the push rod from brake pedal isn't staked it can be rebuilt. Problem will be finding someone to do it. I used a local business for rebuilding. However he has closed the shop and retired.- fast 99
