    Truck Overheating

Yes a hot motor can do that. Called run on and can be very damaging. There are many other causes as well, low octane, high idle speed, if equipped idle solenoid adjusted incorrectly, vacuum leak, just to name a few possibilities. Until the problem is fixed shut the engine off in gear [auto] or...

    Truck Overheating

While you suspect overheating is it actually doing so? Didn't mention pushing water out or knocking after shut off. Nearly every time an overheating motor will do both. Infrared heat guns are inexpensive today. Get actual temps not "the hood is hot "as a diagnostic conclusion.

    TBI spare parts

Saw the writing on the wall several years ago, stashed a lot of parts. Used to see rows of 1960-1980 vehicles, not today. The 2 yards here [same owner] go through 800+ cars a month so turn over is quick.

    TBI spare parts

Seems like it's one or 2 people pulling them. May be there is a used resale or core value. They only cost $23. Only very occasionally I took the units apart, usually injector problem of some sort.

    TBI spare parts

If reasonably close a pick and pull yard. Have seen most of the parts you list on vehicles in a yard near me. Only item that is always gone are the TBI units themselves. Those are apparently in high demand, not sure why.

    Quadrajet Secondary issue?

Above suggestions are all on point. Might add need to start with basics, fuel pressure and volume plus basic ignition checks. If that checks out move on to the carb. With a small screwdriver find the large vent hole in the top carb housing. Carefully insert the screwdriver, should be able to...

    Rock Auto Closeout Sale 1987

Descriptions on Amazon are poor. For instance look up a self adjuster kit. May or may not say what side it is for. Yes I can tell from the picture but should be in the description. Have bought parts at both places but prefer Rock auto. They have a larger selection of brands not available...

    1979 Dash Pad Replacement

Dashes direct is the big hitter. Summit and Jegs sometimes have less expensive shipping options. USA1 seems to have decent quality but wait time is unacceptable. I canceled a prepaid order after 6 months and no delivery date.

    Numerous Lighting Issues

I think I figured out my brake problem

grove is factory. Being captured rotors, given the time involved replace. Even if they are within spec and have enough material to machine, the end product will have less mass to absorb and dissipate heat.

    Dually Rims

Very true, had one customer that installed aluminum wheels that were not hub centric. He wasn't paying attention and did not inspect the wheels. Snapped the studs off dropping the backing plate/brk drum on the ground at 35 mph. Did lots of damage.

dies at low idle speeds, when put into gear and when stopped.

ALDL stands for assembly line diagnostic link. Yes I agree most codes did not point to "this part needs to be replaced". Lean was a common code. Most sensors could be eliminated with data or sweep. Although I don't fall into the replace parts and see if it fixes it category, to save...

dies at low idle speeds, when put into gear and when stopped.

Some of the early Ford OBD1 stuff didn't have a scanable data stream, I agree. GM TBI is a simple system fairly easy to diagnose.

dies at low idle speeds, when put into gear and when stopped.

Yes hard to diagnose with little information. When did this start? A good inspection for tune up related items, plugs, timing, could reveal a lot. Could be as simple as adjusting idle speed. No computers on these trucks.
