Yes a hot motor can do that. Called run on and can be very damaging. There are many other causes as well, low octane, high idle speed, if equipped idle solenoid adjusted incorrectly, vacuum leak, just to name a few possibilities. While you suspect overheating is it actually doing so? Didn't mention pushing water out or knocking after shut off. Nearly every time an overheating motor will do both. Infrared heat guns are inexpensive today. Get actual temps not "the hood is hot "as a diagnostic conclusion.- fast 99

Saw the writing on the wall several years ago, stashed a lot of parts. Used to see rows of 1960-1980 vehicles, not today. The 2 yards here [same owner] go through 800+ cars a month so turn over is quick.- fast 99

Dashes direct is the big hitter. Summit and Jegs sometimes have less expensive shipping options. USA1 seems to have decent quality but wait time is unacceptable. I canceled a prepaid order after 6 months and no delivery date. -

Without measuring inspect the distance between brake backing plate and rear spring pack. If there is only an 1' or so cab and chassis, 6" will be a pickup. Reason, inner dual tire clearance for pickup bed wheelhouse.- fast 99

Vehicle has multiple problems attack them one at a time. Get a wiring diagram and start tracing circuits out. Be sure and follow grounds. A bad ground can cause feedback. I think I figured out my brake problem
grove is factory. Being captured rotors, given the time involved replace. Even if they are within spec and have enough material to machine, the end product will have less mass to absorb and dissipate heat.- fast 99

Dually Rims
Very true, had one customer that installed aluminum wheels that were not hub centric. He wasn't paying attention and did not inspect the wheels. Snapped the studs off dropping the backing plate/brk drum on the ground at 35 mph. Did lots of damage.- fast 99

Some of the early Ford OBD1 stuff didn't have a scanable data stream, I agree. GM TBI is a simple system fairly easy to diagnose.- fast 99

Yes hard to diagnose with little information. When did this start? A good inspection for tune up related items, plugs, timing, could reveal a lot. Could be as simple as adjusting idle speed. No computers on these trucks.- fast 99
