    Your cam is off it should be dot to dot crank at 12, cam at 6, dissy at no 1 this is why it isn't firing. I bought a 82 C10 about 15 years ago for $500 because a guy thought the engine was junk and when set on no 1 the cam timing was wrong, I flipped the cam dot to dot and it fired right up...

    Just plain old cost/time savings why spend 2 dollars and 10 min welding in a bung especially on something that only gets serviced in the 10s of thousands of miles, also you're not the one that'll service it, that'll be an outside shop, dealership, or the owner themselves.

    Interesting did the trans require it to be mounted from underneath? Mine sits the other direction and on top of the lower lip of the frame. Just realized your trans might be too wide to sit in between the two humps were as mine has a ton of room because Powerglide.

    I've never ran into this but apparently the upper has 2 different sizes. I have had to move the mounts to the other set of holes on a 2-wheel drive but that may have been because of the solid mounts used vs the stock style I removed now that I think about it.

    Just realized K series so the perches are different you might have to bolt the mounts together on the engine and set it in the frame and square it up and drill new holes higher up. Someone might be able to measure a bracket and give you the center to center for the new holes.

    There should be 2 sets of holes in the frame perches that the lower mounts bolt to yours are in the lower holes and covering the top set which is where yours need to be. Unless maybe the 80s trucks changed at some point and only have one set of holes. Then the perches will need to be drilled...
