Latest Lost Cause Project: 1979 Z28

I remember being at a local show when I was a kid, all the cars on the grounds were of varying build quality, but had shiny paint. Like normal. Then the sound of rowdy exhaust pulled into the show, in the form of a '66 Chevelle with fenderwell headers, side pipes, a lift off hood and a bunch of...

    Well that's a bummer!

    New trim

Yes, it's curled. Just like most old body trim. Water pressure and a focused spray does wonders. All the water gettng in there behind the trim does a great job of washing out any debris that has found it's way in. If you wash the truck and every time can see debris being washed out from behind...

Very well said. Restricted use of 5th is better than no 5th at all.

Radiator Support Bushings: Is this correct?

The monkey on a stick is a very versatile tool. There's about 5047 ways that it can be used in different scenarios.

    3 Wire Temp Sender

@Camar068 has it right. The only reason it's three wires is because it takes place of two sensors that were used on the older engines.

Yeah, but you can't blame the previous owner for that, lol.

    Power Tour 2026

I ran all of '24. I traveled with a guy that had been doing the tour for many years. He didn't complain about it at all, but he did mention a couple times how it used to be much nicer, just due to the smaller croud. My wife and I though, we absolutely loved it. We had our 1 year old son with us...

    BBC Clam Shells

Yes, that's because your 4x4 frame was never offered with a big block. If you are using the same clamshells that were in the truck with the small block (you are, right?), I can assure you that you are just dealing with an aftermarket mount issue. Been there, done that. It often involves a jack...

I still don't understand why some people get pop up ads. Per Shaggy, no member should be seeing any large, annoying ads.

    BBC Clam Shells

Small block and big block engines share an identical mounting footprint. The mounts and clamshells are only different between the two (for some applications) for a slightly different mounting height within the engine compartment.

    BBC Clam Shells

Yeah, sometimes the poly inserts don't fit in the mount halves perfectly and the bolt holes can be off a bit. Small block mounts work in conjunction with small block clamshells. If you use big block clamshells, you should need the big block mounts too that use different bolt holes in the frame.

    Wood bead seat cover

I don't think we do. I've got an under dash 8-track player I would love to put back into use, but it has needed a new belt since I got it in the 90's.

    short step assembly

Yep. I believe the only difference is mounting holes for fenders and tail light brackets. The stampings themselves are the same.

    BBC Clam Shells

If you are using small block rubber/urethane mounts, then the smalblock clamshells are correct. Depending on the brand and or condition of the mounts, it can take some finesse to get both bolted up. Even if you were installing a small block too.

If nobody else has posted anything by tomorrow afternoon, I should be home and can get pictures of one of my beds. Most of the wood is rotted away and it's easy to see how it all assembles.

    Wtb: old license plates

That's interesting. Ohio lets you use it even if that number is still in use. The vintage plate just gets associated to the historical plate that is registered to the vehicle, which has to be kept with said vehicle at all times. I've thought about running year-correct plates on a couple of mine...

Dang, all the things PA is sticklers about, but it's only gotta 25 years old to run year-correct plates? I wish Ohio did that.

For someone that "doesn't like" the later S10's, you sure want pictures of them often. You're nuthin but a closet round S10 lover, lol.
