    8.1 vortec into 1979 k30

I was not aware of the RHP cam until now. It's very enticing. I should quit reading the internet. I was all content to drop my 100% stock, clean and non-leaking 8.1 into the truck. But now there's this affordable cam that makes 40 more hp and doesn't give anything up down low. But NOW I'm...

I thought Edelbrock purchased the design and rights from Carter?

    Aftermarket Carb

Hmm. I wouldn't be able to run one of those, whether they work or not. It just seems "wrong" in my mind. It's essentially a thefted design.

To seal or not to seal rockers

When I've replaced rockers on my own trucks, that I knew were going to see acclimate weather, I didn't even replace the inner rockers for that very issue of drainage. I simply cut out the rust and left the big openings behind. I'm not saying to be a lazy hack like me, but yes, there definitely...

    Fitech force fuel pump

Mechanical pumps are plenty capable of enough volume, just not enough pressure. All it has to do is feed the surge tank that has the high pressure pump installed in it.

    Fitech force fuel pump

Yes. The benifit of these styles is adding high pressure FI, but not having to revamp the entire fuel system. Some people don't care for it due to the cost and redundancy, but other people are willing to pay for it due to the ease of install.

Jimmy Tailgate Band What's it worth?

K5's were always the large style. The tailgates also don't have the deep depression like the pickups do. As for the pickups, the wide and narrow tailgate bands were used in the same years and they fit the same tailgates. Starting in '81, they all got a wide band in a different style and the...

I don't see any issue at all, defunct or not. You clearly stated the source.

    Which Master cylinder......mismatched parts

The C/K 30 calipers mount completely different than the C/K 10/20 and many other GM vehicles.

What have you done to your square lately??

@legopnuematic Think something like this would do a decent job as a housing clamp? https://ebay.us/m/R7Y4Bh I've got a large one already mounted to an old welding table. It works great for holding hydraulic cylinders. I'd just have to find a 2nd clamp, of course.

Having trouble findind brake drums 9.5" 14 bolt.

Yeah, I'd just source some backing plates for the 13" drums. I'm not sure why GM ever bothered with those little brakes on a 3/4 ton to begin with.

What have you done to your square lately??

I installed a cheezy hitch reciever today. I don't intend to tow on the road with it, I just want the ability to move trailers around the yard when the ground is soft or snow covered. It's got a lot of contact patch compared to my tractor. I'm not sure if I'm going to burn a big fat plug weld...

    Rear bucket seat mounting

Here you go. It's basically a little square reinforcement plate and a sqaure nut welded to the underside of the floor. Not nearly as substantial as the seatbelt mount reinforcement that can also be seen.

What tire size, transmission and engine combo do you have? Taller gears don't always mean higher fuel economy. It often does... but not always.

Hmm. That's unfortunate. What year is this rig again? This example has the potential to stir up some trouble in that new vehicle vs old vehicle thread we've currently got going, lol.

    Thinking about streamlining my tools.

I've got the brushless DeWalt 20v sawzall, it came with a big, 8ah battery. Battery life is more than adequate to handle something that needs to be done away from a power source. It is so much more versatile than my old Craftsman corded sawzall. More power, smoother operation, more compact...
