4" lift for 1977 k10

Hey Yall, im working on building a 1977 k10, mostly street driven with light off road use.not building a rock crawler or anything crazy offroad just a very comfortable street set up mostly.. a mall crawler i believe most would call it. it has a built 5.3 ls swap with a 4l80 transmission, NP205, 2800-3000 circle D stall, on 35" tires, 4.10 dana 44 and chevy 12 bolt rear. i am looking to do a 4" lift, it currently has one its on blocks and very original looking steering components. the truck has been off the road since 2002, and im looking to fully redo the suspension and steering system. i would like to keep my budget at around 3-4k im not above going higher although i would like to try my best to stay within that range.

what i'm looking for is some sort of pieced together set up that provides me with the best possible set up for my budget. i am here differing to yalls expertise. let me know what works for you guys thank you all.

I do believe you should give Offroad Design a call. You should be able to get the ride you desire for within your budget and it will be better than an off the shelf kit.

Does your rig already have a raised steering arm? Or is the drag link at a pretty steep angle?

hey bucket i am in the middle of contact with them, they have sent me 2 quotes so far, the first one i requested just the best possible ride quality with my desired lift, it came out to around 6000$ shipped. i guess i just wasnt expecting it to come out to that much. i requested a more budget friendly option without compromising ride quality to hell and they sent me back another quote for around 4000$ shipped which is far more realistic for my purposes. i am waiting to hop on the phone with Tanner over at ORD who has been beyond helpful and patient with working with my lack of overall knowledge of 4wd suspension. i will attach pictures of what i have on my phone as far as pictures of the existing set up. i will also attach the more budget friendly quote and the other more expensive quote if it might be helpful for someone in the future or for consideration if anyone has any other sort of advice or anything to add

Yeah, so that's not at all comparable to a lift kit. That's all the components you would get with a kit, plus every other part of the suspension and steering. And it's all upgraded too.

Get rid of the crossover steering, and applicable parts and that will cut your cost in half if not more.

Especially since you're street driving it, don't need crossover steering. I would splurge on the leaf springs and upgrades surrounding them. Shackle hangers, bushings, shocks, maybe spring hangers.

I daily a stock steering, 4 inch suspension lift on 35's and wheel a little bit. If i upgraded anything steering it would just be heavier tie rod setup and steering box.

I agree about the crossover steering. On a truck used mostly on the road, you'll never notice a difference. Some people will say otherwise, but that's my experience with it.

Now with that said, if you were going to be fully rebuilding the steering system and using a high end steering box anyway, then crossover steering is one of those "might as well" type things.

How much lift is currently on it, I would assume it has at least 4" already to be on 35's?

You say blocks, does it only have lift blocks in the rear?


IMHO, so long as nothing is broken, there are not lift blocks on the front or any other known issues, I would just run it with the existing lift. There's nothing wrong with 4" blocks on the rear for a "mall crawler," and cross over steering isn't really needed at 4" either. I'm on the same set of 3.5" re-arched factory springs and lift blocks I installed in 1997 and still with factory geometry steering.

Spend your money on ball joints, tie rod ends, drag link ends, drop pitman arm, ORD Steering box brace, wheel bearings, axle U-Joints, new bushings (bonded rubber will ride nicer than the popular poly stuff), a pretty set of shocks, brakes, Etc.

If money is burning a hole in your pocket I hear the ORD springs are nice but I have no personal experience with them. I believe they can build springs with a spring rate to match the driving type.
