Can you pls identify this distributor wiring harness?

Well, I still don't know if my harness is an Electronic Spark Control or a module to operate an idle speed return solenoid. It's been a few years since I removed the Rochester carb, so I don't remember if the harness was hooked up to it (if so, it would be the latter). In any event, the engine...

Can you pls identify this distributor wiring harness?

Hey @bucket thanks for the info. Can you please tell me anything else about the egr speed switch? I don't know anything about it, and would like to know if I need it or not. I hope I can discontinue using it. I'm a little reluctant to simply remove it and keep driving...

Can you pls identify this distributor wiring harness?

I looked a little harder and found this discussion, and it might have my answer (my harness is an Electronic Spark Control). But it doesn't have any pictures, so can someone please verify my post above with the pictures I posted? https://www.gmsquarebody.com/threads/bypassing-esc.9479/ And no...

Can you pls identify this distributor wiring harness?

Hello, 1980 GMC K15 350 4-bbl, aftermarket Sun tach. There is a wiring harness that plugs into the HEI 12V/tach port. Can you please tell me what this harness is? The 1st picture shows a 12V orange wire (power for distributor) with a male white plastic terminal and white tach wire with a spade...

Tightening down front yoke nut stops NP205 from turning

Hey @Blazerbiker , that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the explanation. If you are who I think you are, ORD rocks! Gonna try out my new zero rates next week, order #42468.

Tightening down front yoke nut stops NP205 from turning

Hi @H2OnSnow , yes, I looked at the service manual. One reason I decided not to seat the seal fully in it's bore is because before I touched it, the seal was not fully seated in the bore. Instead, the seal was seated so that the top of it was flush with the top of the housing. The other reason...

Tightening down front yoke nut stops NP205 from turning

Sorry @bucket , I wasn't clear before. When I said everything locked up, I meant only when the front output shaft is engaged (4H and 4L). The input shaft or rear output shaft were never affected by this problem. Hey @Craig Nedrow , I didn't replace anything that is different than stock, other...

Tightening down front yoke nut stops NP205 from turning

So when the yoke is tightened on when the seal housing is present, the yoke dust cap contacts the seal enough that it actually stops the front output shaft from turning. Did not expect that! I installed the seal so that its face is flush with the top surface of the seal housing., same as @8:45...

Tightening down front yoke nut stops NP205 from turning

Trying to find the problem, I removed the seal housing from the front output shaft, and put the yoke back on. I wanted to see what would happen if I tightened the yoke on with no seal housing. I tightened the nut to 60 ft-lbs, and everything still turned properly! So clearly there's a problem...

SM465 shift rail position to install shifter, or top plate

Hey @PrairieDrifter , your comment is regarding the position of the rails when removing/installing the lid, not the position of the rails when removing/installing the shifter, correct?

SM465 shift rail position to install shifter, or top plate

Hi, I just wasted a bunch of time trying to get the shifter back into SM465 properly. It kinda went in, but wouldn't shift anything. Eventually I got it in properly, and thought I would document what worked for me for other's benefit: It's all about the position of the shift rails. The pictures...

Tightening down front yoke nut stops NP205 from turning

Yeah thanks. In fact the GebBuilt videos are what gave me the courage to proceed. Since he just became a member, I’d sure like to talk to him… Anyone know how to reach @GebBuilt?

Tightening down front yoke nut stops NP205 from turning

I confirmed that for each NP 205 driving position (4H, 2H, N, 4L), the rail position was correct, and the input/output shafts turned properly. For example, N has each shaft turning (or stationary) independently, 4L has input turning twice for every front/rear output turning once, etc...
