chevy 350/290 crate engine
Lots of great help,thanks.I will change the converter and reset timing til it runs like i want it.I know it isnt a big powerful motor and heads are poor and cam is bad choice but its all i could afford,not much choice in UK.As it is this truck is a slug and no fun compared to my xj cherokee...- Jonny B

chevy 350/290 crate engine
Fitted this motor on my 1974 c1500 longbed,mated to a stock th350 and torque converter. Not sure of rear gearing but feels high 273 or 308 ,31" tires. Flat beds anyone?

Another point worth noting is unless you can afford a premier paint job and not a piss poor paint job that is looking crap after 12 months then you have no choice other than to try preserve her as is.If you do paint it then you must replace all other cosmetic parts too,fenders,trim etc,etc-more...- Jonny B

i respect both sides of the coin,i like a car thats show quality to look at but a daily driver and a truck used to haul my harley,steel,timber etc,etc is better left as is .Real patina is .......real,and on old pick up trucks adds character.Not worrying about some asshole pranging my show car...- Jonny B

new crate 350 start up
Yes its new crate 350,ive put a 10w 30 break in mineral oil as recommended.Ill take plugs out to reduce compression and crank her afew times to pump some oil around before refitting em and firing her up.It may get up to 4 degrees today so thanks for both of yas advice n help,ill try starting her...- Jonny B

new crate 350 start up
Got my new sbc 350 ready to start up to break cam in but trucks outside (no garage) and temperature is zero degrees.Shes been primed but i am unsure of turning her over (ignition pulled) to crank oil around motor as the oil will be thicker being so cold.Dont wanna mess my new motor.Please advise me- Jonny B

Core Support Mounting
Just bolted mine back on,it will flex back and forth due to rubber mounts,dont lock up tight til wings are attached and dont overtighten rubber mounts as id needs rubbers to be flexable not stiff.- Jonny B

Need help with 85 Sierra running rough
lots of good replies,if carbs fine on camaro then thats ticked,undo fuel line befor carb/after pump and pump fuel through into container.connect mechanical fuel pump to spare fuel can putting hose into fuel can and run engine at various rpm and see if there is a result.Timing needs setting but...- Jonny B

Haha,outnumbered!I agree,i too like long beds over shortys but hey a subtle customised medium bed would be worth a look at i think and it will still fit my 88 Harley in.It looked right on the 59 apache and improved proportions.thanks for youre opinions- Jonny B
