Are these modern carburetors a big improvement?

One guy got a super-rare 58 DeSoto FI Adventurer. He reverse-engineered that FI and realized that the transisters, etc. just couldn't take the heat, and, also were not shielded against electro-magnetic interference, so he replaced all the electronic parts with modern equivalents, and the system...

Are these modern carburetors a big improvement?

If they succeed in shutting CARB down, that will change.

Big block running hot. Can’t figure out the issue

Are you sure that your vacuum advance is supposed to be using manifold vacuum and not ported vacuum? J. B.

hot and rough, running that is

Just a hunch, but what kind of EGR valve do you have? The conventional vacuum operated kind or the exhaust back pressure modulated kind? Does your EGR vacuum line come off of a switch that has 4 vacuum hoses coming off of it? My 81 C10 6 cyl had such a set up, and seemingly two of the hoses...

    Problems with new clutch material

    Problems with new clutch material

No, it is a 3 speed, but the first-gear synchro often doesn't work - over 300,000 miles - so I always come to a complete stop before shifting into first, or, double-clutch.

    Problems with new clutch material

I've been just living with it, as I have the big heavy duty trans, we have moved and I can't find my transmission jack, and the trans is too heavy for my 70 year old azz to slide out by myself. J. B.

    Problems with new clutch material

Does not want to easily go into first unless I first shift into 2nd, then immediately into first. The 2nd to the last clutch, which I assume had a friction plate that had asbestos in it, didn't do that, it shifted the same whether hot or cold, but the last one would act up hot, and this new one...

    Problems with new clutch material

It is difficult to get into first gear without grinding, unless I first shift into 2nd then right away shift into first. Cold, it doesn't do that, it slips right in. J. B.

Headers? worth the effort & cost?

Always thought headers of any length only helped upper ranges. J. B.
