73 K20 Driver Side Fuel Tank Sending Unit - 1 Port or 2 Ports?

What a total airhead! Sorry Rick. I had completely spaced on the second half of the earlier post where you mentioned the tee. Something must have distracted me, and I never fully read it. My bad. Todd, the fuel pump on this old truck does look like it was replaced at some point not too many...

    79 Fuel Filler

Thanks Andy. You have been a huge help!

    79 Fuel Filler

You gents are awesome! Thanks Eric and Andy for taking the time to post some pix! Huge help. After looking at the pix, I do think the bed I have is an 84+ as Andy earlier suggested. Given that, is there a fuel hose that will connect the shorter 84+ style filler pipe to my 73 tank? I have been...

    79 Fuel Filler

Thanks Mason. I thought I had read somewhere that the tank openings were a different size from 84 onward, but I really don't know. Wayne, my 73 K20 has the stock dual tanks. The donor bed, still not sure of the year, has dual doors. I go back and forth about replacing the tanks. LMC shows...

    79 Fuel Filler

Hey Mason, would you mind posting a picture of what lies behind the door of your 79? Does yours also have the shield on the inside panel below the door? I looked up the housing for an 84-87 on LMC's site. It does show three mounting holes, likely matching the three holes in the side panel...

    79 Fuel Filler

Thanks Andy. The guy I got the bed from said it was from a 79. It has the fuel shield from what appears to be an 81-83 I believe (see image below). The tailgate is also late 70's style. The only reason I care is so I can get the correct fill pipe, hose, and housing. I'm not familiar with the...

73 K20 Driver Side Fuel Tank Sending Unit - 1 Port or 2 Ports?

Thanks Rick. I think I get that. What I am unclear on is how to do it given my fuel pump has no return line. Not sure I am ready to abandon the mechanical fuel pump, and if I did, how the change in pressure might impact the carburetor. I haven't researched this, so I am largely in the dark. I...

    79 Fuel Filler

I have a donor bed from a 79 that will be going on my 73 K20. The bed didn't come with filler pipes or hoses. I was on LMC this morning, and I believe a filler pipe from a 79-83 with a filler hose from a 79-81 is the right combination. Based on the drawing on LMC's website, the filler pipe...

73 K20 Driver Side Fuel Tank Sending Unit - 1 Port or 2 Ports?

Thanks Todd. As my mechanical fuel pump doesn't have a return line and I am running the stock Rochester carb, I don't understand, "put a return line setup on now". Where am I returning fuel from? Another question. I don't see a vent line between the tanks, so I presume each is vented separately?

73 K20 Driver Side Fuel Tank Sending Unit - 1 Port or 2 Ports?

Thanks Todd, Spencer, Bruce, and Rick. I have poured over the 1973 service manual, and it notes vehicles designated as 'passenger carrying vehicles' would have had the EVAP canister. But in certain drawings, only the C models are shown with the canister. There is no canister under the hood, and...

73 K20 Driver Side Fuel Tank Sending Unit - 1 Port or 2 Ports?

Hi Folks, I will be removing the old bed here soon and want to replace the fuel tank sending units on both tanks while the bed is off. This truck has single port sending units on both fuel tanks. Based upon what I have read, the truck may have originally come with a two-port unit on the...

    Door Hinge Shims

Correct. But the original door had washer spacers and huge gaps. My dad had even added a bunch of washer beneath the striker due to the wide gap at the B pillar. Pix are with the donor door on but fit with original door was about the same. @TotalyHucked, Gotcha. Thanks for the pic. I don’t...

    Door Hinge Shims

Thanks @legopnuematic and @bucket. I don’t need a final fix now. I am trying to get the door height close as I am replacing rockers. I can definitely open the holes in the bottom hinge body mount side to allow the hinge to slide back further. As you can see in the image, the outer hole is very...

    Door Hinge Shims

Thanks Zach for the feedback. Something must have impacted the cab in the past, though I really haven't found any damage. I have the lower hinge on the body side as far towards the rear of the truck as I can get it. The top hinge cannot be shifted forward or backward as there is a single bolt...

    Door Hinge Shims

Thanks for the replies Gents. Attached are some pix for reference. You can’t see the gap at the bottom due to the camera angle, and I have a replacement rocker clamped in. The top door side has single washer shims. The bottom door side has two washer shims. The truck side of the bottom hinge is...
