Container based shop: 2 post lift placement advice?

If it were me building from your plans, I'd also consider provisions to add a carport in some way above the lift in the future. You may not need to or want to, but that may make the difference in how thick you decide to go with your concrete slab.

    Swapping distributor with hei

Agreed, yours should be HEI already. However... I will add that my '82, although it was HEI, it had electronic spark control from the factory, which included the distributor. I couldn't get my fresh rebuild to time worth a lick with that thing... so I ditched it, and purchased a standard HEI...

    Rust Repair on Squarebody Chevy

If you can't find a good cab to source (they are getting hard to find, depending on your location) then both LMC and AMD offer the parts you're looking for. Both reasonably priced to, in my humble opinion.

    Trailer tires

If I were in your position, I'd price the Carlisles in load range D. I think I even got mine from Wally World, delivered to my house for around $500 (5 tires) last summer.

    Trailer tires

These are the exact tires I put on my boat trailer (5 tires including spare) last year, and the same brand tire I put on my camper trailer (again, 5 tires) 2 years ago. The boat trailer has well over 1,000 miles on them from last summer (we travel a lot to go boating) and they are a vast...

    Trailer tires

Step up to a higher load range, in the same size. That's what I've always done on my trailer tires. The stiffer sidewall with the extra load range helps more than the width.

Issues with HEI swap from original points ignition.

Do you have all of your grounds connected, and the connections are good, with proper sized wires? Every time I've had a slow crank issue (regardless of year of vehicle) if it wasn't a weak battery (you've ruled that out) it was a bad ground.

Your favorite old car/truck that you regret selling!

There are a few I wish I had back, for different reasons. The one I wish I had back the most, and regretting selling the day after I sold it, was my '00 Trans Am WS6. It was lowered 1.5", door handles shaved, had the entire engine balanced and blueprinted, with a healthy cam, and line locks...

    Help with a hirn

LOL. I read the title, and thought you wanted help with a Hernia. :buttkick: I can't offer much help with a horn. Mine doesn't work on my '82 because the steering wheel is original, and sucks.

    Any experience with 2016 Silverado?

I'll agree with about everything said above. I daily drove my '15 for most of the 9 years I've had it. Bought it at 30k, and have just over 150k on it now. I purchased a catch can right away, and had a programmer for it at 36k. Got rid of DOD, and got rid of the torque management for the...

    Finally got a running 65 C10

Yep, I could never get the rubber valve cover gaskets to work either. I went the same way you did, and did a little rtv on the valve cover side, installed cork, let them set up, then installed them on the heads. No oil leaks since.

    Finally got a running 65 C10

Yep, sounds like pinging to me as well, as you have described it. Now that you know your valves are set correctly, (or at least more gooder) try setting the timing again. I'd pull 2* out of it, and drive it again. With a non-stock cam, you may run best at higher rpm without the best idle vacuum...

    4L60E Information Thread (Includes 4L65/70/75)

I'm glad someone that knows more than me (a LOT more, when it comes to transmissions) posted what I was told to do, and have done with our truck that has a 4L Slippy. My daughters '97 C1500 has this, behind a Vortec 5.7, and we use that truck to pull a 6,000 lb boat/trailer to the lake and back...

    Th350 behind 4.8ls

LOL. Mine's been broken too since I've had the truck on the road. The worst part... I have the parts to fix it, but haven't. Other things take priority. The good part, I've taught my daugther to drive the truck by counting the gears down as well. Came in handy for her '97 a time or two.
