problem matching temp sender to gauge

Thanks in advance for any insights on this. I have an '84 C10 RWD and just swapped out the inline 6 for a great running 327. The original 327 temp sender was for a gauge that reads 100 to 220F. The gauge on my truck reads 100 to 250F. I tried the original sender on the 327, and of course...

    core support bolts

Mine were very rusted, and the exposed threads were gone. I soaked them in PB Blaster for days. They finally came off after applying heat to the lower nuts. I installed new ones and used anti-seize. Good luck!!

CorvairGeek -- Thank you very much for the insight.

Wiring mystery - one unexplained dark green wire left from inline 6 to 350 swap

yes it does look like a water temp sensor plug. I found another wire that went to a sensor in the typical place you'd find the water temp. But its not like one I'm used to seeing, it also had several vacuum tubes attached. Maybe I misunderstand the attached pic shows if its not the water temp.

Wiring mystery - one unexplained dark green wire left from inline 6 to 350 swap

All -- Thanks in advance for help on this. I'm reconnecting wires from a swap to a 350 in my '84 C10. This involved '86-ing' the extra smog stuff. I verified where every wire goes, but I have one unassigned wire I can't explain. The wire is dark green and has a push-on connector just like...

    New Carpet, install Dynamat first?

I put Dynamat in my '84 C10, had scraps left over from another project. I pulled up the rubber mat and old insulation, cleaned the floor really well, dealt with a few minor rust issues, and then placed the Dynamat right onto the floor. I then put down the old mat & insulation. Doing this made...

New motor... from 250 to 350

I'm finishing up a similar swap in an '84 C10. I'm getting past the emissions and cat converter requirements by converting to Oregon Special Vehicle plates. It is my shop truck and will easily stay under the 1,500 mile limitation for using the plate. I had to buy: motor mounts, upper...

    SBC dual exhaust redux

All - I finally went with a Dirty Dingo crossmember. About $170 and is adjustable where the transmission mounts. Lots of options out there. Thanks for all the feedback.

    SBC dual exhaust redux

After an earlier post about using stock exhaust manifolds and y-pipes in my SBC swap, I decided to instead convert to dual exhausts with those cool Hooker cast iron headers referenced by many of you. The truck is an '84 C10 with SBC and 350C automatic. It originally came with a 250 inline 6...

    SBC exhaust manifolds don't fit

Okay. The second question in my original post was poorly worded. Here's the corrrected question. I have the two supposedly matched exhaust manifolds and y-pipe from a '76 to '80. When I look at the mount of the y-pipe to the RH manifold, everything lines up and the little "donut" fits...

Addendum - pic of the Alan Grove bracket for alternator mounting when there is no bolt hole in the head. Stock bracket on the right, Alan Grove bracket on the left.

    SBC exhaust manifolds don't fit

Thanks everyone for your quick response. I've worked on 327s before but always ran headers. So I didn't know the spreaders were a thing for mis-aligned manifolds! But clearly a useful tool. A 1/4" seems like a lot of gap to overcome, but the manifolds must have enough expansion ability. I...

    SBC exhaust manifolds don't fit

Thank you in advance for any insights you can provide. I'm swapping out a 250 engine in my '84 C10 for a small block V8. The new engine is a rebuilt 327 with double hump heads. I purchased a set of used exhaust manifolds from a guy up near Seattle. The casting numbers indicated they were...
