I went through the process of sourcing parts for the d/s tank last September. You're absolutely right - finding brackets that weren't rusted through to actually fit the damn thing to the frame was hard. Ended up having to drive 2 hours out of town.
Those plastic protective covers do more harm...
Hi all
Removed the p/s fuel tank on my '85 Square over the weekend. I've never been able to pump from it using the switch in the cab and the fuel sender isn't grounded so shows a silly fuel reading.
I decided to remove it over the weekend. I always thought the box shape of the tank was...
Gauges on these are unreliable. My '85 either shows perfect oil pressure or reads zero. it changes mid journey sometimes.
Engine runs great and has done for over a year.
A quick google search would suggest that these oil pressure gauges are unreliable.
Mine randomly goes from 0 to a normal pressure reading, back to zero and so forth.
OK this was simple in the end. A hose was projectile squirting out coolant to the rear of the engine which made it look like something more serious. All good now.
Hey all
Drove from Seattle to Vancouver, BC over the weekend. Was rather alarmed to see the expansion tank empty when I arrived. Re-filled up rad with coolant, started engine, only to see lots of coolant escaping underneath.
As it was 33/91 degrees this weekend I was watching the temp gauge...
Yes it does speed up the faster I go.
Edit: I really hope it isnt a bad U-Joint as that's a lot of work. Might attack it with WD40 and see if that makes any difference.
Hey guys.
I have an irritating scratching noise coming from the steering column when i drive over 10mph. It is loud when the car is cold and gets quieter when warm (but never goes away).
It sounds like a bearing failure of some sort. Does anyone know if this is a known problem that can be...
Thanks for your help guys. Flushed the coolant and put new stuff in. let it burp all the air out.
Now have hot air on demand!
The engine is also running a lot cooler too (perhaps a bit too cool).
Cool sounds like it might be a trapped air issue which would be a cheap fix.
The engine temp thermostat does jump around quite a lot now you mention it.
Hey guys
The heater in my '86 won't pump out hot air for any sustained period of time. It will blow hot for about a minute, then blow cold air for ten minutes. repeat.
This is the case on any fan speed and location.
I can't seem to find any other threads on this. Does anyone know what the...
