Seat belt bolts in '82 C10

It looks like a Torx socket will be needed to remove the floor seat-belt bolts from my '82 Chevy C10. Can anyone confirm this and provide the specific T-size needed? I'll have to order the tool. Thanks.

    Diagnosing a non-honking horn

I have a 1982 Chevy C-10. The horn suddenly stopped working. The fuse is OK. What's the next step in diagnosing the problem? I've seen something about the possibility of faulty horn relay. Thanks.

    A/C and blowing fuses

Thanks. I saw another thread that suggested a ground/short wire problem between the A/C controls and the fuse block. I'll focus on that first.

    A/C and blowing fuses

OK, I tried the A/C controls with the wire connector unplugged from the compressor. The fuse blew again when I switched the lever from VENT to AIR COND. What's next with the troubleshooting? Thanks.

    A/C and blowing fuses

I have a 1982 Chevy C10 pickup with the straight-6 engine and a mostly operational A/C system. The A/C-heater regulator is an aftermarket model, purchased several years ago from LMC Truck. The A/C system worked up until about nine months ago, when it suddenly stopped working. After a brief...

Turn signal won't blink with headlights on

The problem is fixed, and the solution turned out to be simple. I simply replaced the 1157NA signal bulbs on both sides in the front with matching new bulbs. Now, the turn signals blink on both sides with the headlights on or off.

Turn signal won't blink with headlights on

I'm wondering now if the issue might have to do with mismatched signal bulbs on the front left and right. I have an older (and dimmer) 2057NA bulb on the front left and a new 1157NA on the front right. I have some more 1157s on mail order. After they're delivered, I'll match up the bulbs on the...

Turn signal won't blink with headlights on

Happy New Year, everyone. OK, so I checked the ground from the bulb harness, and it appears to be good. That's not the issue here. What else can I check, or do I just go ahead and replace the turn signal bulb harness (socket) with a new one? Again, the turn signal on the front right works until...

Turn signal won't blink with headlights on

Thanks. I'm checking first for a bad ground. The socket seems to be OK -- though I can tell by the wire colors that it's an aftermarket replacement (apparently replaced by the previous owner) -- and the bulb seems to be seated properly. The front-right turn signal lights (front and side) work...

Turn signal won't blink with headlights on

I have a 1982 Chevy C10. I replaced a blown front-right (passenger-side) amber turn-signal/marker bulb today, using a 1157NA as the replacement bulb. (The bad one was a 2057NA.) Later on, while checking all of my lights, I noticed that with the right turn signal on and the headlights on, the...

    1982-style Chevy 3-point safety belts

Thanks to all for your comments. I bought this truck used in the summer of 1999, and this is the first I'm hearing about a seat-belt system recall. I've never had any problems with this latch system, but, then again, I've never been in a high-impact accident in this truck — just a couple of...

    1982-style Chevy 3-point safety belts

Please see the included photo, which shows the original driver's-side safety belt in my 1982 Chevy C10 pickup. I'm wondering why I can't find anything like this kind of safety-belt system in all of my many searches for a replacement. The system overall is OK, but the shoulder belt is very...

Help with engine hose identification 1982 Chevy C10 4.1L

Hello. I need to replace a formed (factory-bent) engine hose on my 1982 C10, but I first need help identifying its name and its function. It's a thick hose, about 10 to 12 inches long and about 1 1/8 in diameter. It comes from the middle of the value cover area on the right-hand side of the...

    Replace spark plugs (1982 C10 Inline 6, 4.1L)

I used to have a neighbor — a really good mechanic for the local school district — who worked on this truck and other older vehicles for me, but he's moved away. I don't have anyone else to call on. Thanks for corresponding.
