For one you can see engine problems before you feel them. For another you can taylor your driving habits for better MPG.

Agreed on putting a tee onto the back of the manifold behind the carb. Any reason on why you'd want a permanent mounted vacuum gauge...

You should be fine teeing into either. The “cleanest” would likely be to find a fitting for the manifold with two barbs: Quite a few...

Last time I needed a dipstick I ordered one from summit. It was around 45 bucks, and didn’t use those junk orings. The boot type seals...
