Help me decide between 17/18 or 20" wheels

What's up guys..still between a rock and a hard place on which way to go with my truck. 74 crew cab, 7" of lift with a duramax, one tons, etc. I found the wheels I'm going to get but I can't decide which size. I'm personally a fan of wheels that have some kind of lip (minimal backspacing) but...

    Rear End Custom Shock Mounting

I dont have shocks yet, complete ground up build, so lengths will get measured once it's all in. Stock 1 ton rear spring pack. Just trying to get an idea of how I can mount them for best driving manners since the mounts will be completely custom as well

    Rear End Custom Shock Mounting

Awesome I appreciate it Both shocks will be mounted on the front side of the axle however I can mount them out a little and angle them back

    Rear End Custom Shock Mounting

Awesome to hear! So essentially just mirroring the drivers side is fine? Is there any benefit to mounting them at a different angle or more vertical? And do you have any pictures of the 40 gallon tank in your burb? Would love to see just to reference some points while I mount the 40 in my crew cab

    Rear End Custom Shock Mounting

Ok good to know. I am running a 1" body lift so I can go just a little above the rails. Would the ideal positioning be straight up and down off the axle then? Or lean them slightly back or in for when the springs compress?

    Rear End Custom Shock Mounting

With both mounted in front of the axle would I get bad axle wrap issues?

    Rear End Custom Shock Mounting

I wouldn't be mounting the shocks to the frame like that. Since I have to relocate the passenger side mount entirely I am going to build my own crossmember just forward of the fuel tank and make that the upper mounting point for the shocks. Just trying to see what the best shock angles are and...

    Rear End Custom Shock Mounting

Ok so due to mounting a 40 gallon suburban tank into my 74 1 ton crew cab, I have to cut the passenger shock mount off the frame since it's mounted inboard. My question is, since the shock mounting will now be completely custom, how is the best way to mount new shocks on the 14 bolt rear? It is...

    Shackle Flip Issue

Appreciate the info, didn't realize that but I made sure they knew it was a crew cab when I ordered. I'll have to contact them tuesday and see what can be done now. Thanks! Haha I mean I do have a 5.3 lsx sitting here too, maybe time to look for another truck to add

    Shackle Flip Issue

Hey all, just got my 74 back on it's own weight in the rear. Used a shackle flip with HD shackle on the stock springs. After putting it all on it seems like the shackle flip is sticking out further from the frame than the original front spring hanger. Is this an issue? Wrong shackle flip maybe...

    40 Gallon Tank in Pickup

Just went through your build thread..great stuff man! Work looks beautiful and very similar to what I'm doing ironically haha (74 crew, 4x4 swap, 1 tons, 52" front springs, etc except I'm doing a duramax). Looking forward to seeing what you do with it! Will do. I'm running a 6" suspension...

    40 Gallon Tank in Pickup

Who else has done a 30/40 gallon tank swap into a pickup? I'm putting a suburban 40 gallon tank into my crew cab long bed and looking for ideas on a crossmember and where people are putting their filler necks

AC conversion onto non AC cab using Duramax swap

Just piece together the components from Vintage Air minus the compressor, brackets, and lines. That's what I'm doing for my duramax swap in my 74
