It was leaking when I pulled it out. I figured it was the valve cover gaskets because those were not seated properly but it very well could have been the intake gasket as well.

I do have it out on a stand. My plan is to do a compression check and go from there. I will definitely take your advise on the paint and all new gaskets. i am planning on replacing the cheap chrome valve covers with Eldebrock Aluminum. The truck is being painted right now, frame off.

I have not tore into it that much yet to tell you what pistons. Looking at all of the other mods on it, I would be willing to bet the pistons are probably not stock.

I pulled the engine out of my 83 c1500 and the block numbers show it to be a 1968 327. The heads are from 1976 350. Can someone give me your thoughts on this combination?

Yea, Bucket is correct. Those numbers you are talking about are stamped but the block numbers will be casted into the block where he discribed.
