I'm looking for a low pressure electric fuel pump that's quiet, it will be mounted close to the tank on the frame rail, I'm currently using a Holley Red pump but it's kinda loud, any suggestions, Rick

A facett posi flow. American made, ethanol resistant, and great customer service. Well kind of. After you find their phone number they have great customer service. Because faucet isn't the name of the company and I forget what it is. They will direct you to Pegasus racing to buy it. Don't ask them ( Pegasus)questions, anyway the tech guy I got a hold of wasn't as bright as I would have liked. I called back the manufacturer who confirmed what I had called to ask them in the first place and asked who gave me the incorrect info at Pegasus. I said I didn't know, whoever was answering tech questions. Motor components llc is the manufacturer

Do not buy Amazon,Rock auto or Ebay fuel pumps. Learned this one that hard way. Bought a lifetime warrantied Airtex pump from Rockauto, it failed very soon,Rockauto wouldn't warranty it,Airtex wouldn't warranty it. Airtex told me I did not buy it from one of their official distributors, and was either a knock off,old stock, freight salvage,or some other type of distressed merchandise. Their older pumps were not ethanol compatible newer pumps were and to buy a pump from Summit one of their dealers that always has current inventory. Pump 2 was a success.

To tell you the truth Vern I only did it that way because it was fast simple and cheap. Mostly just because it was quick and temporary. Long term I'd go back to a factory mechanical pump if I could,or a TBI pump and sender ZZ3 style if I couldn't use a mechanical pump. I'll get some pics of how GM did the ZZ3s. This link is better than the pics I put up.

I have an 84 Suburban with a replacement small block and this is my project soon. Filter, pump, regulator. Previous owner took off the TBI and put on a carb with an electric fuel pump on the frame rail and there is not a regulator inline. I would also like to make use of the return line.

84 was not TBI it was carbureated. The mechanical pump for an 84 should have 3 lines 1 in from the tank 1 out to the carb 1 to the factory return line, on the frame by the pump. The pump is internally regulated. If your replacement engine is not drilled for a fuel pump pushrod, post back so we can tell you what to do. If you want to go in tank it should be the exact same procedure as the zz3 instal I posted.

Thank you Ricko1966! Replacement engine is NOT drilled for for a mechanical pump. My hillbilly research tells me the engine is an 87 or newer based solely on valve covers. I haven't MADE time to pull the front accessories to look for codes. Do I want to go in tank? Hmmm. I'll make some time to climb back under and take a better inventory on the tank ins & outs. This left the factory with the 454 and 400turbo. Still has the 400 turbo (currently dead) but the 454 is gone!

Start your own thread when you are ready to go further. If you have a working low pressure pump on the frame. We have some more options. Look on the frame near where the original fuel pump was verify there are 2 lines on the frame.

An in tank pump is the best option for an electric pump when you have to pull fuel from the top of the tank. Pumps are lubricated / cooled by the fuel so they like to stay wet. When your feed is higher than the pump it’s going to run dry momentarily because of drain back, when it’s initially turned on, some die faster than others but this configuration will kill the pump prematurely.

Assuming this is for some carbureted vehicle that you can’t run a mechanical pump on for some good reason or other?
But you saying you’re running a Holley Red seems like it’s for the truck with a LS? (Which is not low pressure in the context of old gassers)
Need to be more specific or make sure you’re thinking about this right.

And for a low pressure pump, amazingly I’ve gotten good life so far out of an Edelbrock branded inline pump. Can’t remember which of the 2 or 3 models it is now because the “temporary” solution has been working for years now.
