I've purchased a few of those Duralast sockets recently from our local AutoZone when I've needed one in a pinch. (AZ is 5 min away) Anyway, I haven't broken one yet. For cheap auto parts store tools, they have been darn good.

I have to say that I buy a lot of my tools at Home Depot during the holidays. I scored a 290 piece Mechanic set in the EVA trays for my box for $169 & a 108 piece master impact set for less than $200 delivered. The deals are generally really good, as is the quality and the lifetime warranty with Husky is great. No matter where you move there's sure to be a home depot to exchange a broken at if needed. I try to think of them as the new Craftsman lol.

I learned my lesson and try to buy things once now though I made the mistake of buying a China Freight tap & die set. It was successfully used 1 time before the taps started breaking, but it did what I needed and saved a trip to town, so not bad for a Jackson I guess.

To this day the best ratchet/socket set I have ever had is a Companion brand that came in a small blow molded case. It probably came from a Discount Auto Parts or the like. I got it at a white elephant exchange with my truck club when I was about 23 and it, even with my Husky set, is still my go to set 20 years on. It even has it's original 10mm with it!

I but almost all my tools from harbor freight... because I'm cheap, and so are they, lol.

If I end being real disappointed in something of their's, then I go out and buy the nice version. Haven't been let down yet.

I went through a phase where all I wanted to buy was Snap or Mac. Great tools. But, very, very expensive.

Guess what I do now, if I need something for a one time use.....I go to HF or as I mentioned above, Auto Zone or Amazon.

Probably 60% of my hand tools are actually 50's and 60's vintage Craftsman that were handed down from my father.

I hate the flexible wrench. I'm sure I used it in the wrong application.....but my knuckles love me since I stopped using them lol.
