That's one of the better B&S engines. The IC (Industrial and Commercial) engines had a cast iron cylinder instead of aluminum and wore for a long time. At least to the best of my memory.
Unless that’s some private labeling that looks like a craftsman according to the label on top

idk if that wsss a thing for craftsman then. I have a a 16hp opposed twin on my 88. No filter. Cast iron

edit: I see the BS logo. Single cylinder it appears. I wonder if it’s the same family as the one on my 63

That’s what I read about the cylinder, too. Have about 5 hours on it so far, so not enough to tell if it has a serious oil consumption issue. It runs well and doesn’t smoke. It’s in good shape for the price I paid.

It has new tires, belt, blades, seat, battery and chute. I got it for $450.

Yep, it’s a little 12.5hp thumper. It’ll go up an incline just fine until a wheel spins in wet grass. The next upgrade will be some knobbier atv type rear tires.

@Maxwellvis just bought himself this little tractor yesterday for $220.

He was all over it as it is the commercial grade version of the one that we already have.
That and it comes with a blade and agricultural tires.
He bought the tune up parts for it yesterday whilst he was at work.

The PO bought it for $2700 back in 1994.

I also had him snap up a inexpensive little 10CF dump trailer from craigslist too.
Can't beat it for $65.

From what I have seen it is a very nice unit.
This will be the 4th garden tractor we have now.
I told him that he could buy it as long as he got rid of a couple of the other ones that are sitting in the backyard.
That means that at least 2 of the ones sitting are going to be parted and disposed of to make some more room for the new one.

At times these things litter the yard and look like all kinds of redneck.

Last summer I repurposed an old swing set into a tractor shed.
I simply covered it with some old corrugated steel I have had forever and screwed it together.
Works like a champ.

I forgot about the Snapper riding mower he has as well.
That is the red lump in the photo above second from the left.

I have a old early 70s JD round fender mower/tractor. Did a mechanical restoration on it several years ago. Built a new to color code wiring harness for it and the only starter/generator units I could find was chinesium so I took what numbers I could find from the old components, scrounged ebay and did a total rebuild of the genny with brand new, old stock, Delco Remy components. Front to back. It too now works as it should, I guess. If it comes up on compression then need to put the foot against the mule PTO pulley, give it a slight turn then hit the starter again and it spins over then, like it should.
I need to get new tires on the front and replace the rear axle seals but other than that it does a pretty nice job.
I purchased a newer JD mower/tractor too, with the bagger and the belt driven blower/suck machine on the chute. That thing makes quick work of cleaning up leaves during the fall shed season.
I will get some pics of the tractors in the next few weeks and get them posted up.

This pile just came home yesterday to become a parts donor for the red one we have.
Max pulled the rearend apart the other day as it skips.
We found a gear that was loose and made a new bushing for it out of PEX pipe.
He reassembled it and it ran well for a minute and then it started skipping again.

So he went on craigslist and found a guy that had a few for sale.
He offered him $60 for this one and the deal was made.

Junior is out there right now unloading the pile to see what he got for his money.
Hopefully this rearend is in better shape than what we have.

On a side note, Momma is not happy with our junkyard.
Things will need to change here soon as it looks like Pick N Pull barfed all over the front and back yards...

Do you even have any grass to mow, @Catbox? Looks like it's all dirt and junk...

Hahahaha..

The photos of the yard with juniors crap everywhere was last year when we were cleaning it up.
We have a decent lot and most of his crap is contained to the rear corner now.
What grass we have sucks, but we have it and it grows like crazy.
This is the year we redo the yard.

You could always hop-up one or two and race them. If you haven't been to lawnmower races, you need to see them at least once. Some are just mainly stock, others are modified some, and others really can't classify as lawnmowers, but they sure do haul ass.

I seem to have missed this thread in the past.
The "Chevy Deer" has a Chevy 3.3 V6 for power.

Picked this one up yesterday for $150. Needs a battery and new blades, but came with a bagger which will come in handy. Got it for mowing the rougher parts of my yard so I don’t tear up my good mower. I’ve got a couple of old Cub Cadets that I hope to restore some day, but this will work until then.

We have a tiller around here that needs some work.
That was why I originally let the boy pick up our first yard tractor.
It ran well and came with a tiller attachment.

Dingus has yet to make the tiller do much.
Hopefully it will be attachable to the new one in the fleet.
