I got 3/8" clearance around my shift tower. My trans doesn't move half that amount side to side under accel/decel.

@Frankenchevy

Question: The shift handle in your AA kit, is it solid or hollow?

Thanks. I have a line lock in my front brakes. Great for hill starts on a manual trans. I was hoping to run the wires to the shift knob switch in the handle but I guess not ( unless I make one ).

Gotcha. Nice thing about the super low first and the fuel injection trying to maintain a constant idle speed is you can start letting the clutch out while moving your foot from the brake to the gas and it’ll start moving without much throttle input. One of my gravel roads on my property is about 6%. I let the clutch out on that in first gear and it started off okay slipping the clutch at idle. We have newer manuals, and they will automatically detect a hill start and hold the vehicle until you start going, kinda neat.

Hoping to get everything finished up this weekend, but it’s not likely now. I’ve had a hiccup now with an unrelated issue that I’d rather not bash the company about online. I’ve contacted them and they should be fixing the issue ASAP. As of right now I can’t do anything.

I guess it gives me time to figure out on board air for my rear airbags and ARBs. Though now, I’m thinking of regearing to 4.56s.

I thought your truck started life as a cucv?

The PO swapped it to 3.73 and that’s what has been it the 9 or so years I’ve owned the truck.

3.73's I think they'll fit a 4.10 carrier. If you decide to sell them, I'd gladly buy them.

Yep, 4.10 is the cutoff. 4.10 & down is the only ARB for the 14ff, so I have to run thick gears to get numerically higher.

I was thinking about this when I took the trash out earlier this morning. And thought, I think his is a FF, which you just confirmed, and mine is a SF. I don't know if the gears would work. Crap! 3.73 is a good gear.

It is, especially with a non-OD trans and less than 33” tire.

And a nice torquey vortec setup so there is barely any throttle needed to stay a the desired speed. Cruising 60-65 would be much better than with 4.10's and no OD.

I would check the u joints fore and aft. If they are worn they will make a good loud clunk sound as you let off the gas and or let the truck brake the engine.

They’re brand new. I think it’s the Detroit locker I had put in just before the manual swap. When I get some free time I’m going to drive it backwards 50 yards or so up my driveway with the rear DS disconnected to test the theory.

@Frankenchevy Did you ever test this theory? As you now know, I'm in the same boat...er....truck lol
