1/0 dual battery kits happenin!!

I’ve got my kits designed and ready to go...I’ll be posting pics shortly so if anybody is thinking of running 2 batteries send me a message. As of right now, I’m not doing the isolator/seperator blah blah kits yet because realistically there are too friggin many variables and options. For now, this first kit will basically give you 12V power @ 2X capacity because the batteries are wired in parallel. This kit provides tons of extra capacity-not specifically setup for using a primary battery, then an aux battery for blades, winch, etc.

Also, this kit assumes you are using stock type 1981-up aux battery trays and ideally 34/78-group batteries with top post lugs.

I also have 1/0 replacement cables for single batteries...top post only for now-finding 1/0 side post aftermarket terminals is a little tuff lol

Welding cable(I assume)
Audio cable
Any soldering


Guess a little more info is needed.

It’s 1178 strand battery cable with higher and lower temperature ratings than welding cable. Crimped terminals, solder filled and dual wall polyolephin heatshrinked. Not looking to tout it as a Big 3 upgrade but moreover a HD battery cable replacement with correct lengths or offered as parallel routed dual battery kits. Primary and aux battery kits are an option as well but I would need more info such as if I am to supply the isolator, where to mount, etc.

They are quite a butt to get ahold of. I bought a lot from military surpluses. Sold, or lost them all now of course.

I think the CUCVs had both trays on the passenger side. At least mine did before being converted to single battery.

Mine came with a driver and passenger tray. Not cucv. 79 k20 silverado. Think its factory, but to be honest, i never looked real close at it. I will tomorrow if i remember tho

Where can you even get a driver's side tray?

LMC has them and the associated bolts. I put one in last weekend in my 90 v1500 burb.

I had to remove the evap canister and bracket to make it fit. The area for the holes in the inner fender are dimpled so you know where to drill. The evap canister attached to the new auxiliary tray. The entire install took about an hour, and that included a 15 minute rain delay.

Nice! I have been thinking of doing a dual battery setup for years only haven't gotten around to it yet. I was just going to fab my own tray and try to keep it looking pretty factory (I work in a machine shop and own a welder and plenty of power tools at home, shouldn't be hard at all). I was just gonna do a hack job and have a breaker switch to isolate the second battery. Planning to use a deep cycle marine battery for long life if the truck isn't running but the whole idea was to be able to disconnect it from the main battery so even if I accidentally left the damn thing on all night and killed it at least I would still be able to start the truck with the regular battery, then reconnect once running and charge it back up while I drive (obviously I'd have some type of oversized alternator) and if I wanted to use them in sequence I would still have two 12 volt batteries to do so with. I got a friend with a '97 burb he uses as a conversion van and he's got solar panels and lithium batteries and all that ****, but I'm trying to keep it super simple.

Thanks fellas. I saw a video once where a guy moved his tray (IIRC due to an LS swap) and he drilled out the spot welds that held the leg on and reversed it to the opposite side of the tray.

At one time I actually had an original tray - bought it for an 86 K10 I had 30+ yrs ago.

GM still had a few on the locator about a year back...I bought a few then suddenly all gone. Prolly didnt have very many floating around in dealers part departments to begin with.
