I spent two hours yesterday getting my hood open after the cable became disconnected. I drilled a small hole directly under the lever so in the future I can insert a long skinny screwdriver in it and move the release lever. Where can one buy that clip on the end of the lever that connects the cable?

You can't buy just that clip you have to buy the latch part and it comes with the clip

and presto!

the rod was about 4.50 ish and the time after the bending was 30seconds and i did have to drill destroy anything.

now i just keep the rod in the truck.

This would be a nice time to cut your hood and add a nice scoop!

Thanks for this tip and the pics. Going to give this a try.

I just bought my 83 Blazer as a project and guy closed the hood all the way with the cable broken! First big hurdle but glad I found this. Been trying to get the thing open for a while and so frustrated!

I get to deal with this **** too. Had the K5 towed to the house last week. My buddy tow op latched the hood real good instead of just leaving the safety catch on and I don't believe the hood latch cable is connected. The PO had it disconnected to paint part of the core support. Dammit !!!

Ahhhh, thank you! I had to read through that whole thread again! Lmao. Hilarious.....

Yeah, I couldn't resist it either. I'll have to try to find center console thread. That should be good for a chuckle too.

Ahhh hell nawww. That guy fed himself to the wolves. That was brutal. That after I gave him **** when we were talking about exhaust and I mentioned I don't really care for loud exhaust unless I have a reason to have loud exhaust like a fast truck. He says, I want quieter exhaust too so I can hear my girlfriend. :happy175: I asked for his man card over that one.

You didn't need to ask for it. He pretty much served it up on a platter.
