I’ve been lurking for a while and finally decided to join.

This is The FlatLander.

It started life as a Suburban before being converted into a crew cab pickup over twenty years ago. The truck spent years sitting before finding its way to me.

Rather than turn it into another modernized custom build, I’ve chosen a different direction.

The goal is not to build the most modified squarebody.

My goal is to build something that Chevrolet could have made in 1989.

White paint.

Scottsdale trim.

Chrome bumper.

1989 single-headlight front clip.

Many of the decisions are based on preserving the truck’s identity rather than replacing it.

My hope is that when people see it, they spend a few moments trying to figure out exactly what they’re looking at.

I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts on the concept and I’ll post progress as the build continues.

I've always liked the Avalanche, and a Squarevalanche would be cool. If I get old and bored, I think a SuBlazer with a removable hardtop would be the most likely option for me. But I also know that I don't have anywhere near the gumption to actually pull it off myself.

Welcome, and good luck!

Besides that thread I posted I know there is another one in here somewhere but I can't track it down. The brown truck in that thread was owned by a member either here or on 67-72.

Here is a link to that site with some pics as well.

Not unheard of, here's an example I spotted a few years ago, for sale in Deadwood? SD. I always loved the concept.

I've been into chevy truck's since I was 15, got my first one 1951 GMC with a three on the tree, and a high pressure 228. Had 13 of those, then the next series, only one, then one in the next series, and four squares. NEVER even heard of this comversion, or seen one. Man I like the look, very cool. At Bonneville, saw a 51 cab over that was converted to crew cab, and hauling a fourty foot trailer with some very nice cars in it. Takes lots of talent, and determination to do something like that.... saw this a few years ago Last one is mine.

Welcome from Central NC. I've seen a couple of Squares like that BUT there's an '05 Burbalanche in my arsenal currently.

Tryna look like an Avalanche. For those who don't know. Avalanche is built on a Suburban Chassis. Pretty much is a Suburban with exception of the behind the rear seat. Same wheelbase springs and all.

The pic posted by @Radiohead of the modified Suburban looks really good.

Avalanche's are one of the top three most butt ugly things ever made because they look like a malignant Subaru Brat...
