I've had great luck with Pioneer head units. I do know of someone who had issues with a Pioneer head unit though. They had to pay shipping back to Pioneer for repair. Got it back, same problem shortly thereafter, had to pay the shipping again, but Pioneer sent back a newer brand new head unit with like features and he hadn't had a problem to speak of since.

I have an Alpine that is about 15 years old and been in a Caprice, several Dodge trucks and 4 boats, and it's still alive except for the CD player. So I have to give it the vote, it's been through a lot of ****. :waytogo:

personally I enjoy MTX subs and Boss amps/caps;You can never go wrong with Pioneer HU's..they've been around for ages. Pheonix Gold and Kicker are typically solid brands as well for everything in between. Sony makes some awesome equipment for homes and such..but when it comes to automotive sound systems I always pass them by when I want to be serious. Sony is good for being budget-friendly though, and can be good if your just wanting to drown out everyone else's music..that seems to be more of their focus with the Xplod lineup anyhow. Everyone has unique experiences.

Keep your intent in mind.

I have two MTX 15's and a 3k watt boss amp with a 4 farad cap sitting in the garage..the 15's are already in a single cab wedgebox..I just dont think my ol truck is rdy for this much fun.

I use a pioneer with a tape deck because I enjoy ZyDeCajun that I can't find anywhere else..and I wash my truck out with a water hose..

I honestly would stay away from boss equipment. I have read a ton about quality Issues with them. They are cheap for a reason. I will be honest I have a boss head unit and have not had any major issues with it but it looks cheap and I wouldn't expect it to last a long time. I am going to replace it sometime soon. If you are on a budget there are better options.
