I have a 1986 c20 suburban and want to make it 4wd and was wondering if a 1980 4wd suburban frame will fit correctly under the 1986 c20 suburban

Yeah, but you will need to use the body mounts from the '80 model and not the '86.

The issue of the 4x4 trans tunnel being taller also comes to mind. People have said, though, that this can be mitigated with a small body lift. If it were me, I'd just find a junk K-Suburban and cut the tunnel out.
