Should I swap to a 6.2?

Well here is the plan.

1. Kill all the giant friggin spiders that were brought into my garage on these engines
2. Start the tear-down on one of them - hopefully get it down to the block by the end of the year (1st baby coming early Nov so we shall see)
3. Balance the rotating assembly
4. Magnaflux the block
5. Begin rebuild

I am thinking I will use:

Main studs/girdles
Rocker girdles
Standard timing chain
Aftermarket harmonic balancer
TE06H turbo with intercooler
Custom mandrel-bent exhaust
6.2 Heads with 6.5 "diamond" pre cups

etc. Still thinking about it. At least I have a backup engine for reference!

-aftermarket balancer is a great idea
-Im pretty sure you cant run more than 10lbs on boost on these motors
-headstuds!

there is a better injection pump for that motor too if interested

Dammit, forgot the head studs. Thats a definite. I will likely look into a better injection pump, but I'm going to check this one out first. I believe the military pumps were a bit better so we shall see. I'm hoping to run upwards of 15-18lbs of boost, honestly I just really would like to see the power up around a stock 454 to make me happy. I think with all of the strengthening and plenty of cooling I should be able to do that.

EGT and boost gauge! and a military pump isn't any different, but a 92-93 6.5 mechanical injection pump is a direct bolt it and will give a decent power upgrade, along with marine injectors

I wanna see a build thread on this damn thing

If you're gonna run boost, cut down your compression, a lot of marine engines run 18:1 so they can have more boost IIRC.

Awesome read, glad you pulled the trigger. I had a j code 6.2 with a 4 speed in a crew cab square, pulled round bales on a gooseneck trailer and never failed me. got good mpg unloaded. I should have kept that truck, I miss it.
