Thoughts on putting a temporary spider pin in to keep the c-clips in place so I can drive it in a 4hi to the local of road shop? Maybe 25 minute drive

If you take a back way maybe. I dont think the axles will come out with the x-pin in place (unless the carrier is busted in a way it wont hold it) but driving a 4WD on the front axle is a weird feeling. I wouldnt want to do it on the highway.

Also be sure you have your side gears in, they are made in a way to keep the c-clips in place with a recess for them.

Sorry I got pulled away for a while, I would definitely NOT be driving on that carrier. Not worth the risk.

You found out the front is OK right? I'd just take the spiders out of the rear end, put it in 4 hi and drive it for 15 miles. I wouldn't even put the cover back on and oil in for 15 miles. The damage is done. If the R&P aren't trashed yet, they'll survive 15 miles with no oil just fine. Now you will have to keep your side gears in since the C clips hold the axles, but just take the broken bar and the 2 small broken spiders out of it and rock with it. I'd try to keep it under 40mph.
