Now I'm hoping you guys can advise me on this mess of vacuum lines. There's no vacuum diagram on the truck and now we know it's got a different engine, and now a slightly different carb. I've got some of them figured out but a few are alluding me. Really, when I bought the truck, pretty much every line was either hanging there, hooked to nothing, or had a spark plug or screw in it.
Please educate me.

The first two pictures you can see the lines off the air cleaner. There's the line hanging off the (diaphragm?) on the snout of the air cleaner.

Then there's these hanging off this little "nipple manifold". The bare nipple, the long and the short line aren't hooked to anything.

Next, on the intake manifold, I have this one nipple that's not connected to anything. Where does this go?

Next to it there's a hard line that connected to the carb. But as you can see the SMI carb is blocked off in that spot (below the choke thermostat). Just block this off?

The old carb, you can see the hard line and where it connects to the carb via rubber line.

You can see the spot that's welded off on the new carb here...

Youll want to call SMI and tell him about that heater tube fo rthe choke, see if they recommend knocking that plug out and using the heat riser tube. I MIGHT have a Vacuum diagram...lemme look.

These two diaphragms aren't on the new carb. What are they? And should I install them on the new carb?

I'm assuming this is EGR? Where does it hook to?

Now this PCV on the drivers head is gone. Where does the drivers side PCV connect?

Pic 1 is the idle motor that keeps the engine from stalling if you suddenly letmoff the pedal.
pic 2 is the vacuum break for the secondary valves.
Transfer both over.

Yes, th egr valve was usually connected to a thermal ported vacuum switch on the front water passage of the intake, and that switch was connected to ported vacuum on the carb...usually the drivers side vacuum port low on the carb.

On the early carbed 350s, the pcv valv was in the drivers side manifold, running to the large manifold vacuum port on the back low center port on the carb. and the breather was a tube running from the passenger side, to the air cleaner.

Thanks Jim! "Yes, th egr valve was usually connected to a thermal ported vacuum switch on the front water passage of the intake, and that switch was connected to ported vacuum on the carb...usually the drivers side vacuum port low on the carb." So, I'm guessing the thermal ported vacuum switch is one of these? Is it the broken one or the one on the thermostat housing?

And I have a PCV valve on the passenger head. Is that hole on drivers side the breather, then?

the vac switch is the one in the thermostat housing. and, innyour first egrbpic, it looked like there was a larger diameter tube close up...maybe a 5/8 tube...that would be the one for the air cleaner. move that pcv valve to the drivers side, and plug the front hole on the pass side valve cover. it really looks like that engine was a transplant from a TBI donor truck.

Whoa! Vic, stop everything you are doing.I just noticed...it does not look like you have any of the mid bolts in your intake manifold.....this MAY cause a vacuum leak. These would be the intake to head bolts directly under the carb on both sides.
