so i sold my vega and now have the cash for a 203 205 doubler.

my truck already has a 400/205 combo and i think my buddy has a 465/203 that i can get and i have the 400/203 adapter.
like a dumb ass i tossed my 400/203 that i had but saved the adapter.

if i go ahead with the doubler it should round my truck off pretty good.

basic run down of it
it is a 83 blazer chassis 64 chevy truck body
arb locked dana 60
detroit locked 14 bolt
44'' boggers how ever much lift needed to clear them
cross over high steer steering kit
500 horse 454
turbo 400/205 soon to be doubled i think

it use to be a awsome blazer but i decided i wanted something different. so i tore it apart and started building it into kleedus my ultimate beater truck

what do you guys think

I say go for it. Double it up. That's about the only drawback to an NP205, it's got a poor crawl ratio. You can fix it with the 203 as a doubler and also have a twin stick with more options.

I havent really looked into how much it costs but have you looked into a LoMax kit for the 205? 3.something to 1 low range. I know you'd have more options with the doubler though, guess I'm just wondering if anyone has looked into the LoMax kit.

The lomax kit is no longer in production and JB Conversions has no plans to bring them back.

As for the doubler its a great idea but that 203 has the wrong input, it's 10 spline and you need 32 if you go with the th400. The trick is the 465/203 is super rare and very valuable. You could easily sell the adapter and input for enough to buy the correct input and still pocket some money.

**** i was thinking about the 208 being the same for the 465 and the 400

i forgot the 205 and 203 were 10 spline

so i will need to find a 400 203 still

anyone have one they want to get rid of

i see they have the input for a 205 but do not list one for a 203

they list the 203 range box with the doubler kit installed for 400 bucks plus the cost of the doubler

and ya i tossed a 32 spline 203 thinking it was junk that was before i learned about the doubler kit
i took it off the tranny and tossed it but left the adapter bolted to the tranny so at least i still have a adapter

That th400 tail shaft is unique to the 203 as well.

$1,544 for the doubler kit the three stick shifter with my shift rails modified for the twin stick 205 and a 203 range box with the doubler part installed.
and they are only 300 miles from me i may just take a road trip and go pick it all up

That will be one hell of a toy with all the Tcase options you can think of with that set up. If I was that much into wheeling to where I could justify it, I'd do it too. Rock On with that. Be sure to post up do a separate write-up with pics for us!!! :waytogo:

ya i was thinking about starting a build thread on it soon i still need to take some parts off some other trucks of mine and get it all put on kleedus.

i only have a couple pics of it from when i set the 64 cab on the blazer chasis and a build thread with no pics is boring to follow

and it takes alot to build a truck like this to beat the **** out of it.

i have 4,600 in the 500 horse 454
1,200 in the rebuilt 400/205
3,000 in the 44'' boggers
about 800 in the cross over high steer kit
around 800 in the arb front locker 150 in arb air compressor
400 in the rear detroit

and i have alot of other 100 or 200 dollars parts in it hubs rotors disc rear brakes and stuff like that
and alot of swapping with my budddies for parts

thats well over 10 grand and now i want to spend 1,544 more on it
all for a truck with ****** fuel economy and bad road manners not a daily driver.
but i would gladly spend twice that for the enjoyment i get from my beater truck building it breaking it and fixing it and having the truck everybody wants to own priceless

Real man toys aren't cheap. And if you don't break parts, you're not playing hard enough, or you have finally built it bullet proof.
