There is a guy here in town that owns a shop that makes weekly trips down there. He said if I bring him my heads, he will bring me back a set that has been rebuilt for another $165. Or there is a shop in town that will clean mine up for $175

If I'm reading this right your saying he is charging you a trip fee of $165?

It's been a pain for sure. I'm just excited to get it out of the truck so I can start putting it back together. Then I will get to see how well that carb works lol.

Make sure you ask if the rebuilt heads come with new valve springs

I see I've missed alot here. Glad you found the problem. I figured it would end up being either a burnt valve of flat cam lobes. The compression test took out the burnt valve theory. Personally, I don't like the specs on that cam you in there anyway. You can find you a cam turns on the power about 1600-1800 and still runs hard at 5500 rpm.

Keep in mind on that intake, you're getting what you're paying for. I agree with firebane, try to find you a used Eddy Performer. I've even seen them as low as $50. I bought one a couple years ago for $40 in great shape. Some of those Procomp products are Good to Okay, and some are just flat junk. Most of the Skip White stuff is Procomp including those $50 distributors. I've had real good luck with them, and I've heard some people not so much. I've heard of the ProComp intakes not matching ports very well, so be sure to match up your gaskets to it, and if it's not right, be prepared to do a little dremel work and match up the ports. Then again, you might get one that matches up just perfect. All the ProComp stuff is made in China.

Oh and Summit intakes, most have been known to be Wiend made, and some have been known to be ProComp. So I've been told. Not sure about that. I've never known Summit brand anything to be junk. So who knows if it's true about some being ProComp brand. I would have no problem building an engine with everything being Summit brand.

Hr is right on:) if you get good at your tuning skills you might be able to get a lil lope out of the cam he speaks of and still have all the same power and torque

I like the intake that is on it, I just don't like having to run the adapter. I'm still up in the air on a cam and what to do about heads. I don't need 400hp so I'm not going to dump a bunch of money into it right now. I just want to buy quality parts and do it right. I'm going to get it stripped down this weekend and ready for prep and paint. Color seems to be hold up on buying paint. After I get everything painted I will see how much scratch I have and start looking for a cam and Intake and figure out what to do about heads. Thanks for all your help fellas. This one kicked my ass for a long time.

Lol I have a big long list of questions about break in. I will post them on my build thread when I get the cam back in.
