Did GM forget some bolts

I had the front clip off of my 87 chevy v20 and noticed there were two empty holes just behind and in front of the frame cross member support by the steering box it does not look like it ever had any bolts in there or rivets , can anyone check theirs and see if there are supposed to be bolts in there ?

Not sure about those, but most frames have extra holes for different equipment, motor mounts, etc.

Pictures would help. I've got the core support out on my truck right now. The only holes I have IFO the power steering box is the holes for the bumper support bracket boles. Behind the cross member and the steering box are only small holes for brake line clips. Only one of the two is being used.

This. Frames have holes to support all of the available option content even if your particular truck doesn't get that option.

I will see if I can get a picture , there is no telling what the previous owners removed from the truck over the years , I am pretty sure there are supposed to be bolts or rivets there .

Those holes are for the outer support bracket for the bumper. The bolts will go through in the other direction and the bracket has nuts welded onto them. Part #12 & 13 on the diagram.

Ok , that's a relief I just put the bolts on there until I figure out my front bumper situation .

Here is a picture if it shows up , it is where the two new bolts are at .

Also - 3/8" grade 8 bolts are the factory repair for missing or mis-hit rivets, so they would be fine for a repair out in the real world.
