So what made ya decide to go away from rebuilding the 350 you had sitting around?

Couldn't figure out what I wanted. Didn't want a cam too aggressive that I needed a stall and huge headwork... But no one agreed on what I needed, te cam and head combo, and everyone was shooting down all the advice everyone else gave me. So I said **** it. I have 800 dollars worth of roller cam engine stuff sitting at my house that's going back to summit.

It's much easier this way. This motor has plenty of power to make the truck roll down the road. My dad gave me two 700r4's both need work. I'm not like him i don't like to piece old junk together. Rather buy new.

I went through and filled out the online order form to see what the options were for the Level 1 and see how the price would be affected by different things. I would probably order something like this over the phone, or at least start an email convo w/someone to verify you're getting exactly what you want/need. What I thought was weird, was that the towing options were "No", 1,000lbs, or 2,000 lbs. I've pulled way more than that with the stock 700r4 in my truck. I wonder why those numbers were so low?? I can't see it being able to shift behind 350hp, but can't tow more than a couple jet-skis and a trailer.

i've never pulled a trailer that weighed less than 2000# seriously, before dropping coin on a reman from someone on the internet, look around for local guys. i've got a built 60E, and for about $1000 less than the guys on the internet wanted for the same options... plus if something goes wrong with it, i drag the truck over to them, and they fix it... no need to pull it, crate it, arrange freight shipping, wait for the trans to ship and all that crap.

I agree, ask around and find a reputable tranny shop local to you. And remember that you get what you pay for... most of the time anyway. Most chain places are high.

if you go from a 350 trans to the 700r4 you will have to change the steering column..right..400 trans short shaft..would be good..unless you just want to move up to over drive

Except, I believe this is going into a '65 C10. I think he'll be running an aftermarket shifter.
