First post, new to the forum, started a project and would love advice. I'll post pics in a bit, the VIN gives the year as 1991 (it is a square body I swear), which doesn't match any parts that I've bought for it. It is a one ton with singles in the rear, has a small death wobble and the connecting rod matched one from 1986, so now when I purchase parts I take the one off, head to the parts store and match them to the one they are selling me.

So, it is a cheyenne, and my son and I are starting a full restoration (a good lesson for the both of us). Looking for advice on door weather strips, window inside and out, (which ones are a good fit, which ones to avoid) I'll look on the forums further for advice on fitting the aluminum(I took the rubber mat out and it leaves a space under the gear shift and transfer case stick) at the base of the door frame.

drivers seat is pretty beat up, who does the best interior upholstery kits?

Body is in pretty good shape, we might need to do some bondo work on a couple dents.

Good/best paints?

Best prep for metal to get the bad primer off?

We just pulled the fenders and front fender wells, radiator and sub-grill, trying to be pretty comprehensive as this has been a dream to do for awhile.

They probably gave you parts to a GMT400 1T truck which were available as a regular cab and extended cab version. 4 dr 1Ts (or crew cabs), Suburbans, and Blazers had not crossed over to the GMT400 body style until 92.

Oh, Welcome to the site.

Howdy!

A '91 K30 is the "Holy Grail" of 4x4 trucks for a lot of folks.

When looking for parts make sure they’re for a V3500 NOT a K30. A 91 K30 is the newer body style (gmt400).

Well, those new body trucks would be a K3500.

Habit causes me to call any 4x4 squarebody truck a K10-30. Never got used to the redesignated model names.

Welcome! I ordered my vent seals and run channels from eBay. Went for the cheapest stuff, and they worked out well. I’ve kind of accepted that nothing is going to be up to par with OEM stuff, but if the work is done right, you don’t always let the truck bake in the sun, and even go as far to condition the rubber once in a while, it should hold up. I don’t know who has the best reupholstery kit, but if you just need one, I’d see what’s going on locally to match the stitching of the other seat. Otherwise, there’s a kit on Page 80 of the LMC Truck catalog. Paint quality depends on how much you want to pay for it. My dad painted his airplane with DuPont Imron, and after ten years it looked like it was painted yesterday. I don’t know what’s a good, affordable option. From what I’ve seen, I’d see what else DuPont’s product line has.
